Read for yourself... Awaiting the liberal spin.

DANA BASH: You all talked about children with cancer unable to go to clinical trials. The House is presumably going to pass a bill that funds at least the NIH. Given what you’ve said, will you at least pass that? And if not, aren’t you playing the same political games that Republicans are?

HARRY REID: Listen, Sen. Durbin explained that very well, and he did it here, did it on the floor earlier, as did Sen. Schumer. What right did they have to pick and choose what part of government is going to be funded? It’s obvious what’s going on here. You talk about reckless and irresponsible. Wow. What this is all about is Obamacare. They are obsessed. I don’t know what other word I can use. They’re obsessed with this Obamacare. It’s working now and it will continue to work and people will love it more than they do now by far. So they have no right to pick and choose.

BASH: But if you can help one child who has cancer, why wouldn’t you do it?

REID: Why would we want to do that? I have 1,100 people at Nellis Air Force base that are sitting home. They have a few problems of their own. This is — to have someone of your intelligence to suggest such a thing maybe means you’re irresponsible and reckless –

BASH: I’m just asking a question.

Emotional questions are stupid, period and furthermore, who would this one child be? It's not exactly a well crafted question.

With that said, Republicans want to shut down the government, yet insulate themselves from criticism by picking and choosing what to fund. No, government isn't a buffet, you don't get A la carte choices on what to fund, you either fund the whole thing or not at all. That logic would allow the shutdown to go on for months.

And your title doesn't match anything that was said in the video. I don't even get why you haven't been banned yet again.

    Working backwards:

    1) I never was banned. I deleted my account a year or two ago.

    2) The Federal budget actually IS supposed to be funded a la carte as you put it. Have you ever heard the term "appropriations bill?" The world of CRs is NOT how the government comes up with a budget. If you don't even know this, I'm not gonna waste time educating you.

    3) Love your spin - "who would this one child be?"

    1) Seems other members have said otherwise, but okay.

    2) You can't educate me, son, not by any standard, so you are correct not to attempt to. Appropriations aren't funding the government A la carte during a shutdown, they are line by line items in the budget which are agreed upon rationally. And most appropriations are mandates, which means they have to be funded.

    3) Hypothetical don't work in situations like this. There is no need to pass a bill for one child, when you can pass a clean bill and fund numerous children, plus put people back to work. It's not an either/or situation.

    Let's continue:

Reid Remarks On A Republican Government Shutdown
    Sept 29, 2013

Washington, D.C. – Nevada Senator Harry Reid spoke on the Senate floor today regardingRepublican efforts to shut down the government. Below are his remarks as prepared for delivery:

    -snip-

Republicans want to return to the days when even children could be denied life-saving coverage

    -snip-

I guess Harry and the Democrat's point of view is that children should be given health insurance but not life-saving treatment!

Have you noticed that those 'some other members' have accused each and every new conservative who joins RJ of being a sock? Without fail, every time.

Edit: I just looked at your profile. You haven't been around here long enough to see the pattern. Sorry.

One child? So why can't the Republicans so hand wringingly concerned pay for the child?

It's not like the poor Republican politicians that voted to shut down gov't are being FURLOUGHED. icon_lol.gif

    They still get paid.

Nope. Laughing at you because this is what other conservatives on RJ are saying about all the upset over the shut down:

    Incendiary said,
"The caterwauling cacophony of the left is predictable and tiresome. They'd be better off if they left the US and went someplace more in line with their big-government, anti-freedom views."

He said that in response to Conservativejock saying,

"I cannot help but laugh at all the liberals crying and screaming because some government agencies have closed. Reminds me of this cry baby:

    (pic of Barack in diapers)

Grow the fuck up people. Barack Obama is not yet a dictator. When that day arrives, some sensible people in this world will be sure to bomb the hell out of what is left of America."

Go look for yourself, you Lefty icon_biggrin.gif :

His comments sort of speak for themselves. I mean its nothing more shocking than how he described Obama as being "light skinned with no Negro dialect."

What was incredible to me is how the "mainstream" media has buried this, including CNN (Dana Bash is the CNN reporter who asked Reid the question).

Can you imagine the wall-to-wall around the clock airing of this clip if Boehner had said such a thing?

well they forced Trent Lott out for an innocent comment at a old mans birthday party.

He made vile racist comments and admitted he did. Point is they have selective indignation. If it doesnt fit there particular political need its a non issue.

Remember Gabby Giffords, when she was shot and the rhetoric out of the white house and Obama. How we needed to watch our words and rhetoric.

Obama call for a new era of civility and lectured the country when he denounced the level of political rhetoric. Obama and his aides have over and over called duly elected officials TERRORISTS, anarchists and extortionists in the last few weeks. As if the word has some sort of dual meaning.

So where is the new level of discord?

Yep, but "our lips are sealed" on Harry Reid's candid admission today that for him it's all about politics.

Liberals, here are your marching orders on this one:

After conservatives took Harry Reid out of context to suggest that he doesn't care about kids with cancer, CBS used a similar frame on the evening news. Reid was actually referring to his refusal to pick and choose which parts of government should be funded.

    Hahahahahahahahaha.

Even the libs here know when to hang it up when something is so indefensible. Better to just try and sweep Reid's cruel comments under the rug.
