Can't you tell by the question the poster is a douche? Or are the subsequent posters?

Seriously some of these topic questions are outrageous and whether they're sincere or not is the poster a douche for posting or the audience for responding?

    Follow up:
When a topic posted is so divisive is it the intent of the poster to infuriate or is he clueless? Likewise for the respondent.

I don't know. I feel the same way when a douche who was banned returns and some people welcome him back. It is what it is.

There is one "outcast" here on RJ that comes to mind instantly. One who has been banned several times, who keeps coming back with thinly veiled new usernames and older pictures of his Sad Self.

His "douchebaggery" was apparent in his original username, describing a southern Florida locale.

His subsequent "sock puppet" accounts start off halfway sane; but his style of outrageous, conservative, "conversapossee" political subjects, personal attacks and own unique style of douchcebaggery always returns to identify himself with.

Definitely a combination of both. Some delusional people are fun to catch in their hypocrisy, but once they prove their unintelligence and inability to form a coherent response/argument it gets old and I just hit ignore.

Not sure what it is about gays, but I've never seen another subpopulation full of so many douches and psychos...

I agree, there is definitely sarcasm at play both with topics posted and responses to topics or other responses which people don't seem to get which is very sad.

If people post idiotic topics or responses they should expect a flurry of responses they may not appreciate. Them they claim to be serious and not understand the responses they've generated.

Additionally some people make light of the most sensitive topics which is just asinine.

Maybe the other half are too busy having fun to waist time participating in a forum?

I've seen both. The intentional is trolling but the clueless is pathetic.

It's funny the OP complains about stupid thread topics all the time, yet doesn't create any of his own that are interesting. icon_rolleyes.gif

I don't know. I have been to dinner parties with other people's families (not mine of course) where they have intelligent conversations. Sometimes a person will argue a douchebaggy proposition in order to get conversation flowing.

I have even done it myself at national scientific meetings. The purpose was to get input for NAS-commissioned studies of low-probability but high-risk events that we had to write reports about. I had to be a real a**hat to even get anyone to take the bait.

But, of course the guys you are talking about are probably just douches. Probably.

I guess it's my age but I see these stupid threads and just move on to the next thread. I don't understand why others can't see how ridiculous the the thread is and just ignore it. And the Ignore His Posts link is the magic wand for removing the ones who consistently do it, or never add anything constructive, are consistently drama queens, consistently rude, etc.

Don't know where you get "All the time", I'll post when I find a topic that means something to me or I want an opinion on. I'm not a perpetual poster posting for the sake of posting like some others.

It's as simple as this. So many problems would be solved if people just simply ignored toxic users. When you give attention to trolls or generally rude people you're just escalating the problem.

It's usually the controversial topics that gets the most response. I suppose the mentality is to get people fired up.

To be honest, the main reason I'm in here is to read some of the comments. Some of them are hilarious. If they are lengthy, I lose interests.

Yes, some of the comments are hysterical and even more hysterical is a serious response to a sarcastic reply because it was totally missed.

I don't bother with the novels either

My favorite was the Beyonce's hair a preventable tragedy. If you read the linked to article it was clearly humor. But so many went off the deep end on that one.

Every time I think about that thread I start giggling.

Thats the stupidest thing ive heard all day; Jennifer Lopez or whatever all fall into the same 13 years old girl category. Which kind of grown up men talk about bad pop music and teenage idols? I don't know but I don't wanna read about it.

Define everyone. I work with dozens at work and no one gives a shit about that, me included.
