Is this the same Kuwait that the US liberated in 1991 after a successful Iraq invasion? Maybe we shouldn't have wasted US lives and treasure on them. If we still have a defense pact with them it should be reviewed.
Why did we spend money and lives defending these bigots?
The US needs to stop getting involved in these conflicts -- let the Middle East work out their own issues.
The US invasion of Iraq was the brainchild of the senior President Bush. Urged by the Neocons around him.
Who exactly appointed the US to be the world's policeman? Some of these Neocons went on to "cook" the intelligence data about Iraq following 9/11, to persuade the easily-manipulated Bush the Younger to start the current Iraq War.
The unproven Neocon theory was that once the US took out certain Middle East leaders, democracy would spontaneously spring up. And that the current Iraq War would "pay for itself" with oil revenues benefiting the US. Interesting that so many of the Neocons, as well as both Bushes and Cheney, had vested interests in Middle East oil output.
Both Neocon theories failed to prove themselves. On the contrary, the US has squandered trillions of dollars with nothing in return. And killed thousands of US military members and a greater number of Iraqi civilians. All for the promise of Middle East oil, with the profits to a small circle of oil men.
