Gotta love this team! Ultimate fighters....owner who hates the team, the city of Oakland and its fans and constantly spends as little as possible, but the city of Oakland can pull out 48,000 despite all the talk that they can't support a team and San Jose is nirvana....time for MLB to step in and make Wolf sell the team to Clorox ownership or one of the other Oakland-based establishments that know how to market a team and take advantage of the geographic center of the Bay Area!

    GO A'S!

I wish they were in a nice baseball park like the Giants have. The current one is easy to get to by BART but that's all I can say for it.

Although I do like the walk along the Embarcadero to the Giants ballpark.

As THE Tampa Bay Rays fan here on RJ, I have a LOT of respect for the Oakland A's. Right now, the Rays have their hands full and backs against the wall with the Red Sox right now. If we pull out some more comebacks, I don't know if we could beat Oakland. I am having doubts here.

We each have some of the same issues....we both play in a crappy ballpark, but we need to move "further inland" to draw more people and play in a place that doesn't resemble a mausoleum.

The Rays make very few mistakes with their players, but letting Grant Balfour get away as a free agent really hurt. Balfour was our set up guy when he was with us and really should have been the closer, however, manager Joe Maddon and pitching coach Jim Hickey didn't see that. Our loss is Oakland's gain and I wish "Aussie" all the best as he had a great year for the A's.

Best of luck, but if we meet for the AL Championship, I'm goin' with my home team!

Over the past 5-10 years I've come to learn 1 thing - the baseball postseason is completely arbitrary and random, so it feels almost meaningless to me. You'd have to make all the series best of 9s or best of 11s to make it to where the better team would win more than 60-65% of the time.

These best of 5 series are ridiculous, as are the best of 1 play-in games.

That's what makes it interesting, and why so few teams make the playoffs. You have to earn your way in after 162 games, but once you're in you have as much of a shot as anyone. I'd be with you if like 8 teams from each league made it in, but with the small numbers I think it's fair and interesting. But I do agree the 5-game series is dumb.
