Can cats and dogs play together?

Most people are either a dog person or a cat person. There are those that have both, but I observe that those really do not have a deep relationship with either. This question is for dog or cat guys. Can a relationship between a guy that is strictly a dog person (doesn't care for cats) work with a guy that is strictly a cat person, in the long term? What do you see as being productive or the obstacles?

My personal belief is that they won't get along in the long run. Cat people are finicky and dog people do get tied down easily to one person.

so there is no one that favors one more over the other? I like both and had cats as a kid, but now that I'm older, I find I don't care for cats. I know people say they are clean, but I think it is quite the opposite, they get up on everything, like the kitchen table after jumping out of the litter box. So I have to wonder if I met a guy that was a cat person, if this would be a deal breaker for me? Probably not, but still I wonder.

You just have to go with your feelings. Dogs and cats belong to each other despite what you think.

Would do you need approval from other people? You guys are gay, and half the worlds hate you.

I think I would be a little disappointed if I met a guy that was really adamant about one or the other. I generally like to think that anyone that has a pet is an animal lover and wouldn't have any real preference.
