Google Chrome has never run particularly smoothly for me, with regular page crashes, owing to Java issues. I've tried various fixes, but the problem remains. Now RealJock pages are taking forever to load on Chrome.

I keep going back to Chrome, because I like its speed and features (such as autofill) but, following its latest problems, I think it's definitely time to ditch it.

Haven't any particular trouble with chrome. icon_biggrin.gif The only time it happens to get slow is when I am on the page with like 20 youtube video embeds.

Am on Windows 7 and Chrome here though. Maybe it's the set-up your using.

Running Windows Vista here, on my 6 year old laptop, which I suppose is prehistoric by computer standards.

I'm having to use ie to view RJ, but still can't quite bring myself to ditch Chrome, because I miss its features.

Yes, but it (a Sony Vaio) has served me well, including having survived being almost buried in a dust storm in Afghanistan.

Then maybe the problem isn't Chrome, but the Vaio. Which possibly needs a tune-up to restore its speed. Or a replacement if within your budget.

Another possibility could be Internet connect speed, causing heavy page content to slow you to a crawl, and neither Chrome nor your Vaio is at fault. Run a speed check to see. ISPs often fail to deliver their promised speed, and they can become degraded over time due to system deterioration and other issues. Here's a checker you can use, I presume in the UK as well as the US:

My speed is fine, Art and most sites are loading fast. The RJ home page loads quickly. It is only when I go for one of the sub-pages on RJ that it idles to a standstill. I think it is a problem with Java in Chrome (i.e. the ad player stalling the page loading). It works absolutely fine in other browers.

That has actually happened to me a couple of times. Im not sure what exactly causes it but it is really odd and Im running OSX on a Macbook Pro Retina. I thought it was the internet connection at first but it only does this when you click on profiles and other sub sections of the site like you described. I thought that maybe the home page its getting cached by the browser but that cant be case, the activity on the home page is way too high for it to be cached.

You know. I have adblock on my chrome. So there's no adverts that show. Perhaps that's what makes my chrome work. ?

Good point; same here. Adblock Plus 1.6.1 and in Chrome I've also installed FlashControl 3.3.15, although I have flash enabled for RJ.

Ex_Mil8, there's a thing for Java in the Windows Control Panel; open it and see if java is enabled for your browsers. Unless you know you're using java in your browser it's better to disable it.

Thanks, I'll give that a try.

your old computer might be the problem, are you having memory problems or errors too? Win Vista runs IE 6 I think, to run Chrome correctly, your system may lack the RAM memory needed, check your drive space, run disk defrag utility, delete your cookies, see if that helps

btw, IE is up to rev 10 now, run on Win 8

What is this new "autofill" technology you speak of? My life finally has meaning!

The problem appears to have cleared itself and RJ is now working well in Chrome.

I also took the opportunity to give my laptop a good clean-up (in addition to its weekly de-frag) and removed a lot of those programs that run in the background and uninstalled any unnecessary programs. This worked wonders and the laptop is now working at lightning speed. Thanks for your advice everyone.

Oh, and ad blocker for Chrome is great. It you download it, don't forget to tip Michael and Katie (though I do wonder if they are cruising the Caribbean on a large yacht and thanking me for another glass of Bolly).
