Enough would you poke the guy above you or soapbox rhetoric... time for some jock talk... (er spectator jock talk)

BCS Championship...

I'm thinking Florida beats out 'bama and gets the nod.

OU beats out the 'pokes and Mizzou and people forget about that little Red River game...

OU wins the big game by 7 after battling through the toughest conference (not to mention division) of the year...

Any other ideas?

Being a devout LSU fan, it pains me deeply to say this but Florida is the best team in the country now. Give me Tebow over Colt McCoy any day.

I was so sad when PSU lost to Iowa. I knew it would be a tough game, but I thought they had a chance at a perfect season- and the BCS title game.

Ditto.

Geaux Gators . The SEC Championship game will be awesome. After the first week, I was thinking it was going to be Alabama, but since Florida's loss and the way they have stormed through the SEC since, EVERYTHING is going their way.

Anyway, SEC vs BIG 12 will be the likely national championship matchup this year. I think Oklahoma should take a pass this year because they "stole" USC's slot against LSU for the championship a few years ago.

Oh lord dont even bring up baseball. I cant even begin to describe the lame-ness that the sport encompasses.

Anyway

So yea, Big-12 vs SEC is pretty much a 100% chance. I think the SEC game will be great but the florida offense is that good and bama hasnt really won any amazing games. At UGA was great but UGA has shown to be a let down (as is LSU but thats a whole other story... sorry Luckydog! what goes up must go down? just ask michigan hahah)

The big12 is the bigger question obviously. could be really rediculous if OU loses to OSU and TT loses to Mizzou. I guess that would lead the way for USC? Or would texas somehow make a stand?

Sports? What are sports? Is that where fat shirtless guys in make-up go watch guys in tights run around and grab each other?

My predictions (part rational, mostly irrational):

National Championship: Oklahoma vs. Alabama
Rose: Penn State vs. Oregon State (!)
Fiesta: Texas vs. Utah
Sugar: Boise State vs. Florida
Orange: Cincinnati vs. Boston College (zzzzz)

and USC gets screwed out of a bowl game just because they fell asleep against the Beavers

As a USC alum, I'm required to root for enough chaos in the SEC and Big 12 that my Trojans could sneak into the championship game. If Florida loses to Florida State, Oklahoma loses to Oklahoma State, Florida beats Alabama in the SEC championship, and Missouri somehow wins the Big 12 championship, they've got a chance. Wouldn't hurt if Utah lost to BYU as well.

Extremely unlikely, I know. But I figure my required rooting is for:

- Reasonable chance of any of the 3 schools I've attended to go to the championship.

- Reasonable chance of any of the schools good friends of mine who actually care about football (unlike me) have attended to go to the championship.

- Unrealistic but technically possible way for any of the schools I've attended to go to the championship.

- Utter chaos and a mid-major making it to a big bowl.

Once Penn State lost the second option went away, so I'm on to number 3: unrealistic but still possible.

Looks like I have to revise these projections. Unfortunately, Oregon State couldn't keep up with the Ducks, and it is resulting in an unpleasant bowl schedule for me.

National Championship: Oklahoma vs. Alabama
Rose: Penn State vs. USC
Fiesta: Texas vs. (refuses to name school)
Sugar: Utah vs. Florida
Orange: Cincinnati vs. Boston College

I commiserate with the Longhorns and Red Raiders who felt stiffed out of a Big 12 title game. The BCS system is flawed. Just because Boise State isn't in a major conference, it will not be rewarded with a BCS bowl even though it has a perfect record and fulfilled all of the requirements stipulating when a mid-major team can get to a BCS bowl, in lieu of a less deserving team. Unfortunately, I doubt that a playoff system will be adopted any time soon, just as before.

Stanford's water polo team is No. 2 in the country and is looking to score its first national title since 2001 and 2002! We are 24-5 - and the next game is against Loyola Marymount Saturday Dec. 6 (the 2008 National Collegiate Men's Water polo championship).

New Orleans is obviously salivating at the thought of Boise coming to town. YAWN.

I think it will be Penn State and USC. I don't see that many upsets happening for USC to sneak into the National Championship game.

USC will not be upset by UCLA again (2006). UCLA is not good at all... no chance whatsoever. Sadly Or State had to fail and blow their Rose Bowl hopes. USC would of liked to actually travel to another BCS bowl and play someone new instead of another Big 10 team. Altho I think PSU is a lot better than the Illini crap they dealt with last year. And of course they already whomped Ohio St so that woulda been extremely boring.

Now I know why the BCS will take Ohio St. They will fill the seats, they're still a top 10 BCS team... yeah great. But Boise State showed it could play with the big boys 2 years ago and Im sure a lot of people would love to see them play again. I'm a little sad that no one would even take a chance on them. Granted Utah has a harder SOS but... eh I just think its lame that OSU got the nod. Boise will just have to kick the crap out of some ACC lame-o at home.

The least someone could of worked out would of been a Boise-TCU or BYU or Ball st game. That would of at least been interesting.

I think they're trying to work out a Motor City bowl where Boise State will play Ball State, assuming nothing goes wrong in the MAC title game, or TCU if that happens.

The SOS thing is biased. BCS teams do not like to schedule good non-BCS teams like Utah, BYU or Boise State because they do not bring in as much revenue and could potentially play spoiler. Moreover, many teams in the Mountain West and WAC are screwed just because of their geography. Nobody likes to fly out to Hawaii and play a game in the wee hours of Sunday morning, for example.

If only Boise State would join the Mountain West Conference, then they could really make the case for making the MWC a BCS conference, especially when compared to lame ACC or horrendous Big East. Even the Pac-10 is weak if you ignore USC.
