The rollout of ObamaCare is such a disaster that some people deserve to get fired, President Obama’s first White House press secretary said Monday.

“I hope they are working day and night to get this done. When they get it fixed, I hope they fire some people that were in charge of making sure that this thing was supposed to work,” former spokesman Robert Gibbs said on MSNBC.

“This was bungled badly. This was not a server problem, just too many people came to the website. This is a website architecture problem. I think it is, again, excruciatingly embarrassing,” he added.

“We knew there were going to be glitches, right? But these were glitches that go, quite frankly, way beyond the pale of what should be expected.”

Gibbs’ frank assessment was at odds with optimistic views offered by administration officials.

Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius downplayed the rocky start of the president’s signature initiative by pointing out that enrollment for next year runs through Dec. 15.

“The good news is you don’t have to buy it today,’” she said eight days ago.

While lambasting those responsible for ObamaCare’s numerous glitches, Gibbs also got in a gleeful dig at Republicans.

“Can you imagine if we weren’t obsessed with the shutdown what would be going on health care? I mean, in fact, Republicans probably would be a lot closer to their goal had they not done that,” Gibbs said.

I've been so busy watching the republican party light itself on fire and burn brightly I have not noticed the Obamacare nightmare. Hand it to the republicans to ruin a perfect opportunity to show the country what a failure the president is by out failuring him.

What the GOP did was waste an opportunity to show they were a party of ideas and instead showed they are the party of NO. They took the focus off of the Affordable Care Act and put the value of the dollar in jeopardy.

Its been almost 20 years since Matthews International Capital Management (marketer of Matthews Asia Funds) wrote about the long term prospects of the Chinese banking system and how eventually they and the rest of the world won't be dependent on the US dollar. While the Chinese banking system is not yet mature and has some serious systemic issues, the recent budget and debt limit battle have reinforced and increased concerns among nations which agreed that the USD would be the reserve currency (done by treaty - Bretton Woods Treaty). Both parties, but especially the GOP by their willingness to play brinkmanship with the dollar have done substantial damage to the long term health of this nation's economy.
