Okay so straight to the point, I think I'm losing my hair. I literally feel like my life is over. I'm only 26 but I look a fair bit younger, or at least I would with hair!

I already have a really big forehead so thinning hairline is a big deal. I have mega low self esteem as it is and I'm scared this is just gonna push me over the edge. I feel like crying every time I look in the mirror. I'm gonna cut it really short tomorrow and start doing everything I can so hopefully it'll grow back in better condition and a bit thicker. I'm praying its just bad condition and neglect as opposed to actual hair loss. I'm not anywhere near good looking or muscular enough to rock a shaved head or no hair. My dating life will basically be dead.

Do any of you have tips or good products/remedies to recommend? Losing your hair isn't such a bad thing if the guy can pull it off but I really aint one of those guys.

Go to one of those hair restoration places where they take hair from the back of your head and "plant it" where you need it. A few of my friends have done it (people are very looks conscious out here) and they look great. It is expensive though, so if you haven't got a few thousand dollars saved up, you should start a savings plan and in a year or two you would have enough money for it.

Same thing happened to me and I felt really bad about it. Like you, didn't have a good self-image to begin with, not to mention I'd come of age in the 60s when lots of hair was totally in.

But at a certain point I just gave up trying to do anything about it and just buzzed it all off. When the top got thin enough I just started shaving it... I hated the thin hair on top. Strangely this seemed to work and much to my surprise I began getting more positive attention than I'd ever gotten when I had hair.

IOW, bald can be hot if you just play up the whole Mr. Clean thing.

Try a generic version of Rogaine. Not too expensive if you buy it at Sam's Club or some such place. That works on the crown of your head but only stops or slows the loss so don't wait too long. As for the hairline, the only remedy other than transplant is a prescription pill called Finasteride (generic name) that is safe but there is a small percentage of guys reporting that it can kill sexual desire, sometime permanently. That hasn't been proven scientifically but there's enough buzz that I thought it worth mentioning. Talk to your doctor or a specialist.

My oldest son is doing both of these because he started losing his hair at about age 22 and tried the bald, shaved look. Didn't look good but with these, good hair strengthening shampoos, vitamins, and an expensive haircut, the loss is unnoticeable. He hasn't experienced any of the scary side effects but you need to know some people claim to have.

These and the hair surgery are your only true alternatives to learning to live with it. I would start with a $200 haircut in a major city and see what a true stylist can do your total look.

Good luck! And don't get down on yourself. Being lovable is not dependent on your hair. My son met his girlfriend during his bad bald period and they've been together for eight years.

Shave it. Don't waste your time or money on hair plugs or wigs or chemicals.

    Phooey!

As cited above, healthy bald guys can be sexy as hell.

Though I was certainly preoccupied with other things, I lost all of my hair twice to chemo and found it a lot less traumatic than the gossip holds it to be.

You are you and not your hair. Just get on with living your live and save on shampoo.

i am feeling exactly like you, due to heredity... But trimmed bald head is so sexy... It makes "jason statham" so hot!
Nothing can stop hair falling completely... But nutritious food and calm-good sleep can give more time gap to become bald: use the following tips:
    1. Hot oil massage is so useful to slow the falling process (use coconut/olive oil and massage gently with fingertips and wash after 30mnts without chemical soap or shampoo...
    2. Ensure your hair and scalp always clean
    3. Bath twice a day- dont use hot water.
    4. The white part of egg can be used as a natural shampoo
    5. Sleep well(atleast 8 hrs a day)
    6. Stress always accelerates the hairfall. So meditation is so useful. So try it!
    7. Drink as much water as u can! It wil enhance the life of hair roots
    8. Include egg, leaves, banana inthe daily menu.
    9. The above tips will reduce the hairfall... But cant stop it completely... Hair replantation is the only solution. It is costly, but its the last hope!

hey man - a combo of propecia (pills) and finasteride (drops) was a total game changer for me. my hair had always been super thick, but for years had been thinning big time in front and at the crown BUT... after a year with the treatments, it was like the clocks turned back 8 years. A hair clinic can prescribe you for both if you've got the kind of hair loss that responds to these treatments. good luck!

Propecia saved my hair but killed my sex drive. If it's a big deal to you, and it sounds like it is, talk to your doctor about getting on it. It's not cheap but it works better than anything out there.

There are many nightmare stories about Propecia and sex drive. I read them when a dermatologist recommended that I go on it. No thank you, I said au revoir to my hair n' the rest is history. All is good in the neighborhood.
