The 5C is not selling as well as the 5S but that is to be expected. iPhone 5C = iPhone 5 with colors, nothing new here, its the exact same phone that has been in the market for over a year. The fact that the 5C managed to sell 3 million units in the first there days is already appalling. The leader here is the iPhone 5S and at this point Apple cant even manage to build enough units for the holidays. Im still waiting for my 5S 32GB to be shipped(ordered 3 weeks ago).

The 5C is kinda dumb. For the same price on contract, you can just get the 5, which is much nicer/better.

Apple should have sold the 5C for $300 unlocked. That would have sold like crazy.

Nigam AroraApple’s legacy, built by Steve Jobs, is such that to date it has enjoyed the luxury of loyal fans buying its products even when they are not competitive from a pricing point of view. My survey shows that iPhone 5C has failed at its prime strategic objective of extending Apple’s hold on consumers who are not existing Apple customers. This shows that Apple is vulnerable and the long-term iPhone growth projections of many analysts may turn out to be too optimistic.

    http://www.forbes.com/sites/nigamarora/2013/10/17/apple-walks-fine-line-between-cheapness-and-chic-with-iphone-5c/

The problem for Apple is that they're going after the high end. People buy an iPhone because it's hip and stylish, not because it's functional and a good deal. Functional and a good deal is what Android is all about. Apple is the Bang & Olufsen of computers and cell phones.

The decision makers at Apple can't bring themselves to compete at the lower level; they're a high markup luxury product company. They simply can't bring themselves to compete with the Android hoi polloi. They should have come out with a model that's even more expensive and exclusive than the 5S.

Given the lackluster 5S and 5C launch. I think we can expect the upcoming iPad event to be similarly boring. Basically going to be iPad mini retina. And iPad with updated processor and fingerprint scanner.

I thought 5C would significantly cheaper than 5S, but it's really not. When I'll buy a new phone I'll probably go for a 5S, 5C just doesn't seem worth it when I can get 5S for a small extra amount.

Yup. Which underscores my prediction that once Steve Jobs passed away Apple's demise is a given. He was the master at dazzling the press and public.

Perhaps they are losing steam (albeit modestly) because people are getting wise to their re-hashing of the same products. I still have an iPad 1 and there is nothing sufficiently dazzling about its successors that would tempt me to ditch it for a new one.

I'll be surprised if the iPad mini isn't offered in the same colored plastic shells as the 5c. Seems like the right demographic.

I had assumed that the 5c was positioned to drop into the "free" with rate-plan contract slot. Maybe next year.

I was recently informed that I am a chump for continuing to use my perfectly good iPhone 4.0. Because AT&T continues to charge me the monthly "subsidy" fee that is built into their rate plan. Even though the phone was paid off back in 2011. Therefore, I have already paid for a whole phone that I didn't get to use. icon_redface.gif Oh well. Maybe when things calm down a bit. Or when T-mobile upgrades their network around here.

The iPad 1.0 is stuck at iOS 5.1, so any apps that require newer OS won't work. It continues to do well around the house, for the apps that I use, but I may have to upgrade to use for navigation on the boat. Need the cellular connection and GPS for one thing. It would use a lot less power than the laptop, which is a concern when sailing. I'm not sure if an upgrade is needed to run the Dish app to echo my TV remotely - seems like that would be handy in the gym or on the rollers. It doesn't seem to connect.

I went with the Galaxy S4 rather than upgrade to the iPhone 5S. The S4 has a better camera and it allows you to expand the memory.

According to Gsmarena in a 6 way camera shootout between most companies top end phones goes as follows

    1) Nokia lumia 1020

    2) Samsung Galaxy Note 3

    3) Sony Z1

    4) LG G2

    5) Apple 5s

    6) HTC one

I'm currently using a Sony Z and like it very much.

Yeah, it was a pretty interesting comparison.

I'm quite happy with my camera results even if it's not ranked the best.

I'm just not a big fan of apple. I currently have an iPad only cause I won it at a company party.

And according to the rest of the web including Anandtech research on the iPhone's camera, the 5S comes in second place after the lumia, only beating the lumia with low light scenes.

I highly doubt the entire rest of the web will state that the 5s comes in second. The abiliy to manual change the ISO, white balance, exposure, etc is a plus to me and something unavailable to IPhone users.

I think the IPhone is a solid product, but I prefer Sony over them.

Lol, you do know that all it takes to change the ISO on the iPhone is to simply download one of the countless of camera apps that allow you to do so right?

Yea, but even with camera+ you can't make manual adjustments with the iPhone.
