This whole "creeped out" older/younger thing.

On so many forums on RJ, when the subject of older/younger men come up, alot of younger guys say they would be creeped out if they caught an older guy checking them out. So my question is, are they saying that once you hit 40 you no longer should be looking at younger men? I've hit 40 and in general I'm not interested in men my age or older. I'm attracted to younger men. I know there are younger guys that like older guys, they may not be the majority but they are out there. Why is it that in general there is this stigma placed upon older men who like younger men?

Probably because of the "predatory" aspects. Like the older one is trying to take advantage of the younger one. It's a common theme in the straight world too.

It's all pretty funny though. The young ones that get creeped out by older guys hitting on them become the very things they hate later on life.

i personally am creeped out when older dudes hit on me or even check me out. its just the simple fact that i have no business with someone more than twice my age. and by the time i'm 40 i dont plan on still being single so i dont think i'll have that problem icon_smile.gif

Just by being older than the young ones.

OP surely by now at 40 you must have some concept of this? or are you just trolling?

I'm not creeped out in the least bit and I'm a magnet for older men. I've got a mature soul and it attracts them. When I do get a boyfriend it will be an older man or a guy my age that appreciates maturity. There are some sexy older men out there, I like to keep my options open. At happy hour a couple of weeks ago, I had the most stimulating conversation I've ever had with a guy with an older man.

I'm a polite person, and I don't go out very often, but I do find it humorous when I'm at the bar and it's busy and I ask a younger guy if they are in line to get a drink they think i"m hitting on them and get all uppity.

Basically as you get older you find yourself doing things you thought you would never do when you were younger (and smirk at your younger self sometimes). And develop traits you also never thought you would. Life is funny like that.

ViciousRumor saidThe only thing I dislike about older men is that they make me feel TOO young sometimes. Like my opinions don't matter. I can see myself settling down with an older man around forty to fifty or even younger but it depends on if they want the same things I do and most older men aren't interested in having kids at their age. Personally I thinking having a younger dad and an older dad would add a nice dynamic to the child rearing process but whatever.

i've had that happen before which is part of why i'm not into older dudes. they always make me feel stupid as fuck just for being younger

To the OP, why do you feel you're only attracted to younger guys? and not to older guys? It sounds like a huge contradiction lol

I'm terribly sorry, but if this man were to hit on me I would be already on my knees before he even says hello.

    pretty simple
what did you find attractive at 20
our parents were Old as hell, teachers, managers; all Adults.
Then one day it hits you "Hell, I'm an adult now" that's when you start looking at older men as a contemporary.

--not that unusual for a guy who comes out late in life to be attracted to younger. You may want to research why that is?

Are there any hot older guys that actually like other hot older guys? I've seen a few on here that I could really go for, plus one very sexy 29 y/o. icon_lol.gif

Damn, you beat me to the punch. I think there are plenty of older guys that like other older guys and many younger guys that like older guys. There are younger guys that wouldn't be caught dead with an older guy and younger guys that love an older more mature guy.

Since I came out as an older guy, I have to say I enjoy younger guys and I've had many younger guys show interest in me. My BF laughs because I still get looks when we're out. I'm flattered but, seriously, it's all preference. Enjoy who you enjoy. If younger guys don't like you saying hello or 'are you in line to get a drink', screw them (not literally unless they want that)! icon_smile.gif Life is short, enjoy whomever you're comfortable with, just don't be pushy or obnoxious when around another guy. icon_rolleyes.gif

Well, just for example. I was happily in an LTR at age 40 but 'widowed' at 47 (he died of a brain tumor). Then met another man and was in yet another LTR. It didn't last for several reasons. We separated but remained good friends yet he also died in 2010 (heart attack). The point being, life doesn't always work out the way we hope.

I'm attracted to younger men and as I say in my profile 'younger' at my age covers a lot of territory. And the last thing I want to be is 'creepy'. But, hey, when I see an attractive guy, I'm going to look. Who wouldn't? I'll be discrete about it because I don't want to make anyone feel uncomfortable.

As someone already alluded to, it's more about the older = predator stereotype that perpetuates this "creepy" myth.

I think young people can be just as creepy; in other words, creepiness doesn't have an age. Case in point: a 29 year old guy messaged me informing me that he saved my photos to his computer. Around the same time, I received a genuine, harmless compliment from a guy in his 50s.

    Who's the creep?

There are some younger guys on Jackd that are quite aggressive and hungry for daddy meat. It was certainly an eye opener. icon_lol.gif

I do think there is one generality associated with aging that is applicable: as you get older you tend to care less what other people think of you and your actions. As a side effect, as people age, the manner in which they "hit on" other people becomes more forward.

Fact of the matter is that most guys in their late teens and twenties are huge pussies when it comes to making advances on others so an older guy "doing it proper" could come off as incredibly aggressive to a younger guy. Just a thought.
