    The Obama economic recovery continues...

49 states have seen an increase in the number of families living in poverty and 45 states have seen household median incomes fall in the last year.

While important...did you see the reports about TANF and unemployment benefits having done a better job at keeping this poverty rate lower over the course of the recession. Yeah. So, it would probably be worse except that our social wellfare program works as it is supposed to. Unemployment insurance covers those who are unemployed due to no fault of their own and TANF provides food aid for families. Yay, social wellfare!

On the other hand, policy-based and political efforts at actually going after the primary problems here -- jobs and economic inequity -- have been stalled by the GOP and ultra-conservative Tea Partiers:

    111th C. - 35 Major Acts passed - Democratic Leg & Exec

    112th C. - 15 Major Acts passed - Democratic Senate, Exec / Republican House

    113th C. - 4 Major Acts Passed - Democratic Senate, Exec / Republican House

It's high time the minimum wage be raised. Hasn't budged since 2009. Obama would gladly sign that bill but republicans in congress would never let that happen.
