It's just meh. And she went batshit promoting it.

I'm thinking she just needs to tone down the "Gaga"-brand.

I liked it! Better then anything Katy Perry's released from her new album.

That's a powerful vocal though. And if you didn't get the Twitter Tirade well you just don't know Gags.

Katy's albums is garbage (so is Miley's). ARTPOP will be one of the best albums of the year. Three Weeks. icon_cool.gif

Ghost and By The Grace of God are awesome.

But that's about it. (Oh, and note-able, Walking on Air)

I think it's a great song. However, she apparently stole the music from these guys:

Yea, I think the first few seconds sound similar. The band says there isn't plagiarism or similarities.

    It sounds like 80s music -- and that's not a bad thing!icon_smile.gif

Yeah, she most likely sampled that record.

I think it was a smart move by Gaga and her record company to rush release this as the 2nd official single within 40 hours of leaking it as a promo. She's getting flack for it but I think it will pay off in the long run. The 2nd single was to be "Venus" and a snippet of that leaked today. They are still going to release it next week as a promo with a video to follow.

"Venus" has a unique sound to it in itself, but "Do What You Want" is more radio friendly and should see heavy rotation (although a few radio edits will be required - those have listened carefully to the song know what I mean).

Venus would just be Judas Pt. 2 to be quite honest. Too experimental for its own good.

What Gags needs is a SMASH, and DWUW is ready to go to work.

Applause, btw, is higher than DWUW on Itunes and is re-peaking on radio.

    Slayage!

From all the snippets I've heard, including Applause and Do What You Want, Venus has to be my least favourite. It sounds too weird and 80's for my liking. And kinda gay.

How is that Judas pt. 2???

I never got her point in Judas. Jesus was the rebel/bad boy. Judas was a sell-out.

Maybe the irony is that Lady Gaga is a sell-out???icon_lol.gif

After hearing the full song today, I would have to agree Venus is like Judas part 2. Lyric wise, It's like a hybrid of Judas with classic B-52's where they sang about planets & outer space. Doing the roll call of planet names isn't original and has been done before.
