    +1

That's right: "Justification by faith alone" vs "Acts of faith, hope, and charity."

That makes sense! More like 'Dogmatic Christian', right?

Some good points, but I`d say all Christians(and all religious people) are 'ideological' in that they believe in an organized system of thought, etc. Moreover, they don`t want to accept the world as they find it; they have an agenda for changing it to their belief.

Maybe Pope Francis has succumbed to the modern way politicians have of talking in disguise or code words?

It's all lip service. He's not doing anything to change the church's official stance on homosexuality.

    And yet... (from Advocate.com):

Those attending services at Roman Catholic churches in the Chicago archdiocese Sunday will get an anti–marriage equality letter in their church bulletin.

Cardinal Francis George, who heads the Chicago archdiocese, has asked for the letter to be distributed throughout the region, reports Chicago TV station WMAQ. This comes after the head of another Illinois Catholic archdiocese, in Springfield, announced plans for a service of prayer and exorcism Wednesday, the day Gov. Pat Quinn is scheduled to sign the Illinois marriage equality bill into law.

Maybe those guys should get in touch with their boss?

    Saint Sarah says "HELL NO!"

She knows that when Jesus said "Love everyone." He didn't mean The Gays.

Things haven't been the same in Chicago since the death of Cardinal Bernadin about 15 years ago now. He was a wonderful bishop, preaching a very inclusive and welcoming faith. His replacement, Cardinal George is his polar opposite. Some dioceses in the US will need to wait for the deaths of some of the bishops who were installed by the last two popes to see some of the teachings of the new pope put into practice.

Have you heard about incrementalism? It's not exactly easy to change millennia of dogma in the period of a few months. He's probably paving the way for future progressively-minded popes to tweak church doctrine.

Yeah, I don't have much patience for dogma, especially since it can be changed for convenience. It just seems flakey, considering they say it's God's word, but obviously it's just what the pope feels like espousing that day.

Then what do you call a zealot liberal, who feels they have a right to dictate to others how to vote, for their own self gainicon_question.gif
