Bizarre encounters with people

Today I was at the store and as I was leaving this guy approached me. He got off of the bus and he had these really big blue eyes and long gray hair.

He pointed up towards the mountains and said "10 years ago I was up in those mountains and saw an aircraft flying around. It landed and these men came out of it. They were about your height and looked almost human but something wasn't right. I reported it to the police and they investigated but never told me anything. I've seen things up in those mountains. I have seen Bigfoot and people practicing black magic up there. We can build ships like that we have the technology but we're too afraid. You and me have the same God."

Then he walked away. It was just very strange and I felt like I was in a horror movie haha. I dunno if he was for real or just doing it for shits and giggles because it's Halloween time. Have any of you ever had bizarre experiences like that with people?

LoL, I live in Buzzerkley. That kind of thing is a common occurrence, especially along Telegraph Avenue where I work (and have for over 30 years).

I can't think of a specific thing that was said to me at the moment but there are several 'regular' colorful characters. One is called "Hate Man" (why I don't know) who wears long skirts, two different shoes, weird self-made hats with plastic flowers in them and pushes a shopping cart with his assorted junk in it.

Another I find most interesting doesn't have a street name that I know of. He is very tall and thin. His pants are never long enough to cover his ankles. He has long stringy hair. There are two very weird things about him. One is that every time I see him walking it is as if he is slipping between this and a parallel universe. He sort of edges himself sideways between them and seems to appear and disappear through a slit in the fabric of space/time. I know, you're probably wondering what I've been smoking but, seriously, it is an odd feature he has. Stranger still, even though he's been around as long as I've been here, he doesn't seem to age at all. He looks the same (mid 40s) now as he did 30 years ago. He also has a special spot where I occasionally see him sitting and drawing strange patterns on the sidewalk. It is a series of symbols he has been redrawing for years. I even have a picture of them somewhere.

There are several others too, some no longer with us (dead, I assume). One was a guy called "Orange" who handed out seedlings of orange trees in styrofoam cups to passers by. He never spoke but I was the recipient of several of them back in the day.

Mike, did you ever see the "happy, happy, happy!" Asian guy who'd be on a box at the intersection of Bancroft and Telegraph, on the campus side, Sproul Plaza? He had some placard that I never read. I hadn't seen him for a year or so and then was in Chinatown in SF with my visiting brother and there he was on some corner over there. I stopped and said hi and said I hadn't seen him in Berkeley in awhile and he said something about having moved his preaching to SF. Sproul Plaza is where you'll find a lot of them.

I've had distant neighbors call me up to complain about the "black helicopters." (This was before I understood about meth.)

And now that you mention it, there was this guy, who I'd almost forgotten: http://www.realjock.com/gayforums/50572

One of my oddest encounters was in my 20s, late at night, walking to the convenience store. A half block from it, I saw a kid sitting on the curb by himself. His arms were bleeding. He was hacking at his skin with a disposable bic razor. So I sat down on the curb beside him and chatted with him until I gained his trust, getting him to agree to let me phone for help.

I remember balancing not wanting to freak him out by threatening with the cops, yet I knew I didn't know how to handle that on my own and I couldn't just leave him there. We didn't have cell phones and I was afraid to leave his side. I've heard of cutters since then, but at the time I had no idea what I was dealing with.

I don't remember if he came with me to the pay phone or if I went there and then came back real quick to him but I did get the police to come for him. I don't know what happened with him after that. For all I know they could have just dropped him off at the edge of town; so I don't know, but I hope I did the right thing. I didn't know what else to do.

Last week, some guy walking in front of me on the street started acting like Mick Jagger and acting like he was waving a crowd.

Yes, of course, many times. When ever I heard him I was reminded of something Bubba Freejohn (I believe it was) once said, "Happiness is not a very high state."
