Making a long story short, I'm thinking of taking the Greyhound from Sacramento to San Fran, to take a flight home.

Can I access the Bart from the greyhound station to the airport? If not is it a long cab fare?

Cab fare will be about $50 with tip to the airport from the Transbay Terminal (where all buses stop). You can easily walk to the Embarcadero or Montgomery BART stops on Market St. in about 5 minutes. See google maps. BART to SFO from those stations is probably like $5.50 nowadays.

I think another option besides GreyHound is Amtrak. Check the fares/ schedules/ location in Sacramento to see which one is better for you.

They drop you at multiple locations in SF...one is near the Ferry Bldg and the Embarcadero Bart (to take you to the airport) is across the street.

Here is a good link for Bay Area Transit in general:

It is a 5 minute walk (one block heading north and one long block heading west) from the transbay terminal (425 Mission Street) to the New Montgomery BART station (Market and New Montgomery). Totally walkable for me, but not certain how much luggage you have.
