Ever since I got a personal trainer my love for the gym has increased. I've only had 3sessions but been doing my own thing since end of May.

I'm started to plan time away from work around a gym schedule, I'm a casual so some weeks I can work 1 day others I can do monday - friday.

Now I had my first leg day tuesday and been hobbling around since due to sore and tight calves- damn those DOMS! Today I'm bored out my nut and itching to go to the gym, but I realise it's still a stupid idea. It's killing me and I'm climbing the walls out of frustration on not being able to go.

If someone told me this time last year I would be like this now I'd have laughed in their face!

Bit of a pointless thread I know, but I needed to say it.

    I love the gym!

haha.... I'm an old man and it wasn't until about 3 years ago that I became 'addicted'. Started something along the lines you describe. Got a personal trainer and then began working out on my own and have rally gotten into it.

I'm curious, you wrote: "Now I had my first leg day tuesday and been hobbling around since due to sore and tight calves- damn those DOMS! Why can't you go to the gym if you're sore? Obviously if you're *really* sore with DOMS you don't want to workout your legs or, at least you don't want to work them out hard. But that doesn't mean you can't workout other muscle groups. And, for that matter, light workouts with a sore muscle group can speed up recovery.

Next time you workout your legs that hard be sure and use a foam roller on them immediately afterward. I find this helps a lot. You might also be interested in a product I use: "Progenex Recovery". It isn't cheep so if you can't afford it, no big deal. Just make sure you get good proteins in your body soon after a heavy workout. Oh, and also drink LOTS of water.

Took me a bit to figure out you didn't mean "dominants" as all these probable positions kept coming to mind...

Day after I was fine but the past couple of days it's been really sore and tight to the point where I start off on my tip toes and have to stretch down so my whole foot is flat on the fround.

Today my left calf is still a bit like that. I doubt I would be able to do a cardio warm up and after sitting for a while it easily tightens up again, it's more the embarassment of walking like a cripple.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll be back there, then I'm away with work for 5days! Hotel supposedly has a spa and pool though so hopefully if I'm not too shattered I'll get an evening or two in.

If I can't go to the gym I get all kinds of antsy. Exercise releases endorphins... and most people like that. But yeah - I totally understand and think MOST people on here do. ;) Feel better... and enjoy!

My trainer schedules days off for me, however most of the time I do a workout anyway. Like today, I did 55 min of incline walking (while watching the end of Aliens) and then one hour of core yoga and I feel fabulous.

When I was homeless I was hung up on the idea/connection that I had with whatever Force/Spirit/Deity that seemingly kept me safe. I almost didn't want to get out of the situation cause of it. I felt Spiritually elevated and oddly at peace with my shitty situation. I knew once I left it; that I'd lose that depth, and that seems to be the case.

Well I feel slightly happier now.

Made it back this morning, but surprisingly busy for a sunday morning. Think everyone had the same idea as me, woke up early from the clocks changing so take advantage of the gym!

Annoyingly thought due to it being busy it was a mix of chest and back. I was hoping to keep it one half of one and then the other half of the other. Ach well.

Off to try and google the exercises as I feel my form is off.

    I hope so too!

    So much to still go!

I'm no looking forward to the days (hopefully in many years time) that I have to start cutting back on gym time.
