she makes more bearable music though. lady gaga makes the same type of song though.

but then again.. youtubed firework from katy perry and yeah, she can't sing. my fault. i made a big mistake giving her undeserved credit. that song is helluva catchy and earworm worthy though. guess it's because i like the song... *shrugs*

but lady gaga still sucks though. folks rocking out to judas and shit.. that song is godawfully irritating. they used to play that shit @ my gym religiously. dudes are sweating trying to work up a stroke and they have the nerve to play lady gaga. no thanks. to expect anything better from her would be doing yourself injustice. haven't heard a song from her yet that is worth the recognition she's getting. "born this way", "on the edge", "alejandro" and whatever the fuck she released before. am i supposed to rock out to this shit because i'm gay or something?

I knew your vehement dislike of Gaga had something to do with her status as a "gay icon".

No one said that you have to like Gaga or her music just because you are gay. If you don't like her music, fine. But you shouldn't attack her credibility just because she is so heavily associated with all the "undesirable" aspects of the gay community, at least as you see them to be.

I believe Gaga is just starting to realize her potential as a musician with ARTPOP. The Fame was crap, Fame Monster was solid, and Born This Way had many gems but was all over the place.

Also, her rise to fame was the fastest we've seen since the 80s. In 30 years, no one will remember Katy Perry. But Lady Gaga's name will be remembered.

how is she a gay icon though? that's what i don't get. she was given the gay icon tag BEFORE she even decided to acknowledge her gay audience.

I guess because she used her power to advocate for gay people around the world. And what happened? The gays turned around and ripped her to shreds.

    The irony!

HOW SO?? icon_lol.gif as i said before, she only started caring when she realized that she had a lot of gay fans. folks ready to christen pop stars who happen to have a lot of gay fans as gay icons and ignore the people that REALLY busted their ass and put their lives on the line so people like lady gaga could talk about "born this way". there's way too many forgotten heros that have done so much but because they're not famous or in pop culture, they're ignored. folks never call actual revolutionaries like the people in the stonewall movement gay icons but will give lady gaga, diana ross, and judy garland for example the tag. folks probably didn't even know how harvey milk was until they made a movie about him. icon_lol.gif

I agree with you wholeheartedly, thebearer. These pop stars do exploit the gay community for sales, and now, relevance. It sucks. The real heroes are the gay men and women throughout history who fought, suffered, and died to be seen as full and equal humans. It sucks. It's the way the world is. Gay people will never be autonomous, they will always need straights to work for/with them, the same way blacks will always need white "permission" to validate themselves in the world.

    Side note:

People, please learn to just quote previous post instead of having the quote box take up half of a page.

    Back on topic:

It's a very interesting piece of music... "Aura" is still my favorite so far.

Hearing this after listening Lou Reed makes me cringe a bit. My gayness can't help but want to get dancing like a freak!

I didn't care much for Gaga after Born This Way tbh. Before that I was a fan. When Aura leaked I once again supported Gaga and her campaign. In my opinion, hearing Aura, Sexxx Dreams, Swine, etc. ARTPOP will probably end up being my favourite album of hers.

Venus is a very experimental track, and rightfully so since I think it's the first track Gaga produced entirely on her own. And it's a relief it's not longer a single. People will immediately scoff at this song as insane (which it is) but it's fucking fun. At first I was a bit disappointed since it sounded pretty disjointed and out of place. However I can say it has grown on me.

She recently performed both Venus and DWUW live on UK X-Factor. Her arrangement of DWUW without R. Kelly, no wig and no backup dancers really made her look vulnerable. Thought this was a brave move.

I think she needs to be more desperate and crazy... Like she should shave her head while a wailing about nuns who rape Venus of her sea shells, or whatever the hell mumbo jumbo she's onto nowadays.

    Not a fan of that.

I won't be buying ARTPOP. Although not nearly as good as THE FAME MONSTER, BORN THIS WAY was a great album, even though some of the artistic choices were borderline annoying. Although 'Applause' is a fairly good single, ARTPOP seems to have gone even further in that awkward direction to the point where I'd just rather pass on it all together.

On the you tube page after you've pulled up the video - drag you pointer to SHARE - hit it, daddy. Some other stuff will appear next to share this video, including some icons for facebook and such. Look for INBED. Hit inbed. Then copy what appears in blue in a box. Paste it hear and it oughto show up as the video.

I thought Venus was an overworked mess of a song, it sounds like something the real housewives would do. lol

It's quite catchy after a few listens. It's a fun mess, the pre-chorus and chorus hooked me. Reminds me of Fame Monster Gaga.

    [Pre-Chorus]
    I can’t help the way I’m feeling
Goddess of love please take me to your leader
    I can’t help I keep on dancin’
Goddess of Love! Goddess of Love!

Take me to your planet (to the planet)
Take me to your planet (to the planet)
Take me to your leader (to the planet)
Your leader, Your leader (to the planet)
Take me to your planet (to the planet)
Take me to your planet (to the planet)
Take me to your Venus (to the planet)
Your Venus, Your Venus (to the planet)

    [Chorus]
When you touch me I die
    Just a little inside
I wonder if this could be love
    This could be love
Cuz you’re out of this world
    Galaxy, space and time
I wonder if this could be love
    This could be love

I wonder if this could be love
    This could be love
    Goddess of Love
I wonder if this could be love
    Venus
