I just bought rogaine foam and intend to use it in an attempt to grow some facial hair...

I do have some thin, semi-translucent hair along my jawline, but they never darken or turn into stubble.. am hoping the rogaine would do the trick!

any1 had an experience with rogaine keen to share it? icon_lol.gif

I don't think rogain works that way. You can always try beard transplant surgery.

I saw some people on youtube successfully increasing beard growth with rogaine!

nonetheless, I've placed my order and i'll perhaps update this thread as I finish my 4 month supply of rogaine hahaha

    1) You are 22. You may have a few years before your beard reaches its maximum potential.
    2) You're Asian. Asian facial hair is notoriously thinner and less coarse. Some Asian men never quite develop facial hair, and some get crazy thick beards.

There is lots of information about Rogaine use on the face, but I'd also check with a dermatologist about it. I've got so much hair I'm more concerned with getting rid of some of it than growing more of it.

It's very important not to use too much of this product as it can lead to toxicities so like others have said, I would ask a dermatologist first.

Some extra info - this substance is VERY toxic to cats, so if you (or anyone) has a cat, make sure they don't get access to it - which includes a cat grooming your new hair (or beard). Small doses causes heart failure.

thanks guys, i guess i'll use the rogaine cautiously, starting with a minimal dose first.. maybe once per day and check for any noticeable irritations. if all's well, i'll resume the full dose of twice per day.

that aside - i believe that we tend to gravitate towards what we think is sexy/look good icon_razz.gif i for one am trying so hard to gain weight + get bearded because im a sucker for guys like that icon_twisted.gif

I understand you, though. When I was younger I desperately wanted a hairy chest and it never happened. If they'd had Rogaine then, I'd have tried it.

Interestingly, I never tried shaving the tiny blonde hairs I did have on my chest either, because when I heard the rumor that shaving would make it grow back thicker, I started to worry that I'd have a full time beard-maintenance problem on my chest.

Man, we sure do love to wallow in our physical insecurities, don't we? The good news for wallowers is: As you age, even though the old stuff doesn't bother you any more, plenty of new stuff develops for you to obsess/worry about.

(If that stuff is really that toxic I would NOT do it man ... I'm 56 and I still don't have sideburns ... it's a disappointment but really pretty minor in the great scheme of things) (I don't have a beach house or Hugh Jackman either. But I manage ...)

I desperately want hair like Ruban Studdard, but black guys are usually smooth, so - I used to rub hair food all over my face - didn't work and so gross. Then to talk to hairy guys - they say it's a real pain bein hairy. I guess we are stuck shoving our face in between their legs. It's the only way you're gonna get hair on your face, mmmmm.

I doubt it's that toxic. after all minoxodil (the active ingredient in rogaine) is used as as an oral medication for Low blood pressure! if oral administration is tolerated to go thru phase 3 clinical trials.. I think dermal administration SHOULD be pretty safe icon_biggrin.gif

cant wait for the product to arrive on the 4th nov hahaha

I'm Asian and growing a beard without any products! Sorry irrelevant to your question but it can be done :-) maybe just wait with time. I heard where your hair follicles grow is largely genetic. What's your ethnic background?

My understanding is that Rogaine does nothing for a receding hairline, only the crown area. So I doubt it would work on your face. But if you want to try, there's a generic version that costs about 1/10 as much at Sam's Club and probably other places as well.

I guess you could try - but I agree with others, the Asian factor is probably going to limit your beard growth.

woodsmen saidAsian genes. We can never be cubs or bears.

not true! I have some cub / bear Asian friends with a good amount of hair! (though they're the minority compared to white guys)

but that said, from the videos I've seen, im quite confident that the rogaine would work to a certain extent - given that I DO have the hair follicles! icon_cool.gif

or perhaps i'll jz lift more after my exams to get more testosterone onto the hair follicles haha

Is it designed for beard hair? Aren't the causes of baldness on the top of the head very specific?
