"According to U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) incidence estimates released on December 19, men who have sex with men (MSM; a category that includes transgender women), comprising less than two percent of the population, accounted for 66 percent of the 47,600 new HIV infections in 2010.2 Between 2008 and 2010, new infections rose 12 percent for all MSM and 22 percent for young MSM. Some subpopulations were at substantially higher risk: an African American man who had sex with men was six times likelier to acquire HIV infection than his white counterpart."

"One third of young gay men have never been tested for HIV or other sexually transmitted infections despite the fact that they are increasingly likely to have unprotected sex with casual partners."

    Get tested! Use condoms.

Indeed, but I was making a funny analogy of the obviousness of your title.

I think most bars should be doing more swab tests anonymously, they used to do that here. They just tried to get everyone coming in, so they could track things and post warnings in high risk spots.

Prevention does not mean abstinence alone. Sex is not an addiction. It is a normal & healthy human urge, whether straight sex or gay.

The issue is making that sex safe. Which means for gays to use condoms. Another way is regular testing for HIV and other STDs. Here's a thread I posted yesterday:

Another generic fag who refuses to face reality no matter how much the HIV epidemic rages. icon_lol.gif

Tell us, cupcake, I suppose you don't have safe sex with your long term partner because "we totally trust one another"?

I suggest you go check the stats on where a lot of guys are getting their new HIV status from. icon_wink.gif

I'm assuming your are HIV negative, do you even know...?

The more you attack people, and use terms to describe most of the men on RJ in terms of hate, you closer you'll get to being banned.

BS, I've had sex with lots of men, many of them obviously out and on the scene. It seems if I hadn't initiated safe sex they certainly would not have.

Many gay men complain that they don't like the sensation of condoms, even to the point they lose their erections.

Try broaching the subject of HIV or STIs with fags, you will soon find yourself standing there alone. icon_lol.gif

Sydney, Australia just had its big Gay Mardi Gras, not exactly the "on the down low" crowd. And guess what? An outbreak of some bacterial infection of the bowel, hazardous to those with compromised immune systems ie those with HIV and/or the huge number of drug users in the gay "community".

God only knows how many young gay guys got introduced to HIV at that "gay pride event".icon_sad.gif

But the Political Correctness muppets keep spinning the same old BS about "class oppression" and all our problems would go away if only there was more transsexual albino dwarf representation on whatever lame Yank TV program is currently all the rage. icon_rolleyes.gif

Kiki is a sad troll but what hes saying here (except the same old pc muppets shit) is true. Gay men are a very different species than the rest of the world when its abour HIV. You would think they would take extra precautions given of the % of gays infection rate, but no, they keep ignoring the topic in spite of all the informationd and warnings that wev been getting for years.

Actually, it's happening with straights as well. Drug cocktails have given many the idea that:
    A) detectable levels of the virus are so low from treatment regimes it's not a worry (catching it).
    B) it's treatable (not curable) so some think it no big deal as they did when people died horribly of it.

    Sloppy thinking, really.

    I'm guilty of that.

Crazy thing is a year and a half before I was diagnosed positive I took a health science class in college. I remember the instructor telling us you have a 1% chance of contracting AIDS (or maybe I heard it wrong). Anyway, when I entered the world of sex soon after that I thought to myself 'I could have sex with a hundred people and have only a one percent chance of getting it'. How naive I was. I didn't realize that the percentage was higher amongst gay men. I learn everything the hard way.

I don't blame the world for my disease. I take full responsibility for it. I also made a point not to spread it further. In fact, I set down sex for good in 2006. Too complicated to explain.

It seems nowadays these kids are not afraid of contracting it. The idea is that the meds will save you, but there are worse factors involved. In 2007 I developed cancer and fought it well into 2008. A lot of my HIV positive friends were developing cancer at the time also. In 2010 one of the meds (Truvada) nearly caused me kidney failure and now I am left with Chronic Kidney Disease.

My message to the youth is that the disease is still no picnic. I wish I would have listened better in class years ago. I could have spared myself a longer lifespan.

This is very sincere and real and I wish more people would read it. Specially all the posters in this forum with the mentality than carching HIV is very hard "you have to have unprotected sex with a poz guy over 1000 to catch it" and more nonsense like that. When we all know in practice thats not true. They also think the meds area valid solution so they dont worry much. This forum is plagued by men like that.

Condom failure rate is 2%, so every 50 different guys you sleep with is equivalent to one act of unprotected sex.
