I was borned in San Antone but growed up in Marble Falls Texas.

Some of y'all have apparently been there (which beats the shit outta me?)

Tried to find a pic that explains the place, and it really ain't easy.

    I found this one,

    2343544597_39f561510f.jpg

But somehow, it tells a different story.

This one is lil'bit closer to what I remember

    Marble-Falls-Taylor2.gif

(My cousin Linda was Miss Howdy Roo - I kid you not BTW this pic ain't her because my cousin was way prettier and has bigger, well y'all know what I mean)

    This tells another story,

    7.jpg

This is clipped from the Pflugerville Panthers website:

MARBLE FALLS -- Three second-half touchdowns, two by running back Lino Gutierrez, gave Marble Falls a victory and kept the Mustangs undefeated in District 24-3A with just one game remaining.

Gutierrez put Marble Falls in the lead for the first time in the second quarter on a 1-yard run that made the score 14-12. In the third quarter, Gutierrez scored on runs of 1 and 6 yards, then quarterback Lance Haverda found Don Clark from 30 yards out for the final touchdown.

.....I am gay because Lance Haverda was so damn pretty -- sorry not to be able to find a pic. Oh well, I did but if I post it I will be tracked down, killed, and then sued. Therefore, won't do it. Wouldn't be prudent at this juncture.

Not finding exactly the right vibe I think natural beauty and devastating isolation say it best.

So who a y'all has been to Marble Falls?

My family took a day trip tp MF.

Instead of eating at our regular Dairy Queen, we decided to just slurge and try out a local cafe. The best Surf'n Turf in the area!

Nice little town. I travel through every once in a while between Austin and Blanco

Hah, when I was a kid the big treat was to go for tacos at the DQ on a Friday night before the football game. Surf & Turf didn't exist (you had to go to the German American at Lake Buchanan to get anything like that).

    Hey Ursa,

Once spring rolls around Hobronto and I like to take day trips and just photograph/drive around. Since Marble Falls looks to be only about an hour or so from Austin, we'll probably head that way to take some pics, sample the local cuisine and hang out.

Of course, since moving to TX our concept of seasons has changed pretty drastically. So spring will probably be March now, instead of the May/June we were used to up north.

I've visited a number of times on my way to Fredericksburg (from Dallas) or visiting relatives in Kerrville (ick). Also, my mother plans on retiring there or Horseshoe Bay so I'll be checking it out again soon I'm sure.

I don't know why. I lived in San Antonio 4 years, know MF quite well. People get around these days, y'know. Time to stop being obscurity snobs... LOL!

I moved my parentals to Kerr-patch for retirement...I lived there for 2 years... Ick! is the right word to describe it.icon_eek.gif

The redneck queers were not cute, and the closet fags were tough to break away from their fake girlfriends.

I barely made it out alive, but I managed to find a cool circle of friends. The gays were always jealous of me, never knew why.

Hope I am not being an obscurity snob. I was born in 1964 and growing up in a place like Marble Falls in the 70's was really isolating. We drove to Austin once a month to buy our groceries at the Bergstrom AFB PX and see a movie.

It is just strange, and amusing, to me to realize that people actually know where this is. That, also, speaks to a pretty remarkable change in how people move around these days (and demographic change in central Texas too).

Mostly I find it hard to believe I can post something on a gay health website from London and find people who know something about what I am talking about.
