    Scary stuff.

Five millions tons of debris made up of devastated property is making its way to the US following the 2011 tsunami in Japan

A floating island of debris three times the size of BRITAIN is heading for the California coastline sparking huge environmental concerns.

Five millions tons of rubbish made up of devastated homes, boats, cars and businesses is making its way across the Pacific Ocean following the 2011 tsunami in Japan.

Scientists have already discovered debris on the west coast but their latest findings suggest California is expected to be hit with a deluge all at once.

I realize that nobody has much of a reality filter any more. But seriously, can you explain how a tsunami that struck a small part of the coast of Japan could create a "floating island" TWICE the size of Japan? Why can't anybody see this object that is the size of a continent? Why don't people colonize it and live on it? Why is Japan still there?

Yes, a bunch of con men have stolen millions of dollars to "guard against ecological catastrophe." So far they have located 15 objects from the tsunami. Total. Except for the appearance of a few large floaty objects (boats, docks) there is no evidence that anything noticeable will occur.

I can understand how it would be so large, because we are talking about floating items, so they probably are mostly on the surface. Did you see how much junk covered all of lower Manhattan just from 3 buildings collapsing on 9/11?

Should I believe the scientist of the thread or the Winchell Mahoney?

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has been doing some serious myth-busting after news reports this week claimed a massive island of debris from the 2011 Japan tsunami was headed for the U.S. West Coast.

One problem: There is no floating mass of debris
