Telling off your REPUBLICAN Friends

I recently got a discount on my car insurance for driving less than my policy was quoted for, and I posted on Facebook how my agent even retroactively refunded several months. A "friend" then asked, "so how do you like your health insurance." I finally let it loose.

    Victor:
Did you vote Republican in the 2010 mid-term elections?

    Mary:
    What do you think?

    Victor:
Well, if you did vote Republican in 2010, you are the direct cause of all the stalemate in Washington, and the fact that instead of getting single payer health care system that works fine in Canada and Europe, we are stuck with a system where insurance companies can continue to screw us over. So, Mary, because of that, I will get shitty insurance with a high deductible.

    Mary:
Do more research Vic on healthcare in Canada and Europe. It is not what you think it is. The standoff in DC has nothing to do with your deductible. That was already written into the Rule on how much and who would manage the ACA. Everyone is in the same boat now. Redistribution of wealth in the end. At the end of the day no one in DC read this shit and WE are all in the boat. Socialized med.

    Victor:
Obama never wanted this, neither did Hillary. They wanted to get rid of insurance companies altogether, which only exist TO MAKE A PROFIT. But because Republicans blocked that, this was the shitty compromise. I would much rather have my taxes going to health care than this. Socialized medicine and care for our people is MUCH better than profit driven health insurance. I am sorry we disagree on this.

LOL ... "redistribution of wealth" ... sure ... force the poor to pay what little they make to insurance companies ... when they do use their insurance, it will probably be due to starvation icon_lol.gif

    It continues:

    Mary:
If the head of state didn't want this then why did his crew push it through without reading. That was stupid. In my mind they are all to blame Vic. I work for Medicaid and let me tell you we do not sign a change in a contract without reading and asking questions. It's all jacked up and everyone will suffer with high premiums and be shoved slowly into the single payor source he wanted. AKA-socialized med.

    Victor
The premiums are high because insurance companies studied the law and thought, "if we have to cover everyone, how can we profit." So they have high premiums and high deductibles. Mary, as a self-employed person for the past 17 years, I've paid $48,000 in premiums and only had a wart and an ear infection. I HATE insurance companies.

Redistribution of wealth in the end.

Some redistribution might be a damned good idea.

WE are all in the boat.

Except for the rich, who are in their yacht.

    Socialized med.

    if only!

You hafta admit, though, she does have her Right Wing talking points down pat. She must drive with her car radio tuned to conservative talk radio, and mouths the words so she gets them right. icon_rolleyes.gif

Total (and typical) lack of faith in America. They can't do it, so we can't do it better? That's the spirit that won the war, isn't it?

Similar logic: your Yugo doesn't run very well, so Ford shouldn't make cars.

Mary, like many reactionaries, has no belief in the American ability to grab an idea and make it work. And I'll bet she calls herself a patriot.

I have learned that trying to discuss things with Republicans (at least the ones I know) is pretty much a waste of time. No matter what you say, they will say you are wrong.

    Telling off your REPUBLICAN Friends

I avoid this problem entirely by choosing not to have any Republican friends. Ideological zombies are not worth my time or effort, and dealing with them is an insult to anyone with even a trace of intelligence & logical faculties. icon_razz.gif
