At least the major government officials in power seem to have their values and beliefs in the right place. Hopefully this won't amount to anything more than a little discomfort for the LGBT community in Croatia.

Just got back from Croatia recently. They don't even have gay places there so it would make sense that the country wouldn't approve gay people. The people are nice but religion and traditions get in the way. Gay guys have to meet in parks and nude beaches there undercover.

Croatia is ahead of the US. Croatia has had an anti discrimination law since 2008.

Why didn't Obama push enda through Congress when democrats had control from 2009-2010?

I guess he was too busy lieing about Obamacare.

Democrats never had "control" of Congress for more than 30 days in that time period, a recurring Republican lie. Please provide your evidence of this false claim, with actual member numbers in Congress by party.

Remember, to have "control" and freedom from Republican Senate fillibusters, Democrats needed a 60-vote super majority in that body. Please document when they had a super majority that could override Republican fillibusters, that have blocked Democratic legislation all during Obama's Presidency.

Croatia is where North America was in the 1950's regarding homosexuality. Its a former communist country that is still shedding its iron curtain skin. Being Croatian myself its kinda embarrassing reading shit like this. but I also understand it. the country was birthed out of an oppressive regime. its induction into the EU is a step in the right direction as more and more isolated Croatians will be exposed to the rest of the world and old school practices will be regulated by the European Union. Still this article serves as a reminder why I haven't been back in over a decade to visit any family.

Obamacare was passed without any Republican votes. Besides that, enda has Republican support in the House and Senate. There's an enda clone sitting in the House now sponsered by Republicans. Obama doesn't even need Congress, he could issue an Executive Order. If democrats had passed enda in 2009-2010 then there would by no carrot to entice gay voters to get to the poles in the 2012 election cycle and vote democrat.

Democrat Harry Reid blocked the Energy package passed by House Democrats and he currently blocks gun control legislation. Harry Reid also blocks legislation to remove the subsidy he receives for healthcare insurance.

The fracking catholics are super fanatics, just like their Muslims counterparts. Be free to live in the Dark Age if you choose, but don't force people to adopt your dead god.

In fact Jesus didn't even exist according to Bible scholars showing that the Roman Empire invented Jesus to control the poor and the slaves.

If Jesus did exist and knew this is what catholics and protestant do to each other and the world. He would had wished he wasn't born.

Until you are a free thinker, you are a slave to brain washing. I say this as an ex-christian.

There's no reasoning with liberals. But thanks for putting out the facts even though they are unable to comprehend them.

The High Court still has to rule whether or not this referendum is constitutional or not, so even if it passes, it may get struck down.

Could you provide us some valid news from your country to refute what we are hearing from our own news media. It would be awesome to see Croatia endorse gay marriage and legislate it into law.

This is good news. Keep sending more information in so we can finally hear the truth. Our news media has a bad habit of spreading propaganda. I am very happy that Croatia is making steady progress on this issue. Now working on your politicians to change their minds is going to require citizen pressure.

I don't trust the American news media. They are so gay as in being so biased at times. This is nothing against Metta8 because he has no control over what the news sources provide him. I trust what mladri is saying because he lives in Croatia so he knows what is going on first hand in that country. Who are we to argue with himicon_question.gif

So shouldn't the person who posted the original story do any additional research to ascertain it's accuracy? I was going back through old topics here and saw that he posted a "story" accusing a government official of being in the closet. No evidence and no follow up either. Very irresponsible if you ask me.
