So I'm seriously thinking about taking a few year off school and moving somewhere in the states to work and train. Since RJ seems like an interesting cross-section of Americans I'd like some advice on which city I should move to. Some of my considerations include:

    - City should have a good gym and MMA training facilities (preferably BJJ and Muay Thai)
    - Lot of good job opportunities (I know this one is probably unrealistic with the economy these days) or at least relatively good opportunities.
    - Don't need a gay community but a city that has good prospects for meeting guys.

Also, how hard is it to get a VISA or some form of residency down there for a Canadian?

Las Vegas has very good MMA training facilities. With the casinos operating 24/7, you should be able to get a job doing something. The housing is cheap. And I imagine there's a reason they call it 'Sin City !'

i think you should try harlem, georgia.

it's lost 25% of its population in the last 20 years because there are no jobs, the people are puritanically homophobic, and most everyone is fat to one degree or another since there isn't a gym in town. oh, and it's the birthplace of oliver hardy, so you can see the 27 people who fly in "from around the world" for the oliver hardy festival every year.

    oh wait...

    no...

yeah, i misunderstood your original post... icon_razz.gif

i guess you should mark harlem off your list.
