I'm really looking forward to Thanksgiving this year, but my family and I tend to have the same food each year. I wanna mix it up though this year! So I would greatly appreciate it if I got some recipes I could try to make. It could be side dishes, desserts, etc anything. icon_smile.gif Thank you!!!

To me it's not Thanksgiving without the core dishes; turkey with stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie. Beyond that the possibilities are unlimited.

For example, homemade baked rolls (yeast raised), or baking powder biscuits, made with whole wheat flour, some sort of soup for an appetizer like cream of broccoli or cream of asparagus.

I'm making my famous sweet potato casserole for a gathering (early) tomorrow at work. It's actually Ruth Chris Steakhouse recipe and I NEVER have any left over. It's terrible for you but omg, it's soooooooo good and easy to make!

OP, what do you usually have?

When I was a kid we always ahd the same things for Thanksgiving and Christmas and New Year's and Easter. I didn't mind. Of course, then I could eat like a horse and dinners at holidays could be four hours long.

my family tried deep-fried turkey last year which was AMAZING!

in addition, no thanksgiving would be complete without the following: mac&cheese, some type of green leafy vegetable, and sweet potato pie!

    Lasagna?

Growing up w/a lot of Italian buds (Upstate NY) their Moms always did a big flat of lasagna and a bird on Thanksgiving. Loved left overs the next day at their houses icon_smile.gif You can make it as heart unhealthy or lean it down as you like. Personalize it w/your own sauce (love making marinara) and use high quality ricotta and fresh mozzarella. Skip the pasta noodles and use zucchini planks(I know, sacrilege)for the gluten intolerant. Make it meatless or use ground turkey breast. Mix it up and make 2 smaller ones, meatless and gluten free.

Or not lol Thanksgiving needs a bit of mixing up in my mind.

Just looked at your profile and saw that you are Latino. Fond of chipotle? It's quite tasty when used to season mashed sweet potatoes?
