SF just celebrated Bear Pride Weekend. I live here and never even heard of it until I grabbing a cocktail when someone mentioned it. Lots of celebrations for bears! My bar of choice is a bear bar every Friday, half as many guys because they're all so big...but super nice too.

I wished I lived somewhere where there was a bear contingent. Is why partly I often consider going back to SF,

I like all sorts of guys, but I feel I would be more accepted by the bear group.

Atlanta has bears but not as many fit, muscle bears as some of the other top cities.

Bear culture is healthy in its' acceptance of a man as he is. Hair on your back and fat on your belly doesn't disqualify you from acceptance.

But I hate to see guys go from fat acceptance to fat worship.

Oh, man, you are SO right. I often wonder when men don't take care of their bodies (and have no physical impediment to doing so) what the FUCK they're thinking. Gay, straight, trysexual, non-sexual, whatever - it's still your health and your one and only body and the thing that everyone sees first about you.

    Yes,
Because fat guy's can't possible be healthy and body builders hearts don't explode, find themselves on dialysis, or liver donor lists.

I think some of you have a very wrong impression of what a 'bear' is. Many nowadays are hot, sexy and great bodies. But just like the non bear community, you will find less in shape types as well. I just associate them as very masculine and more of a natural body (albeit I like the guys to be well trimmed and styled ie. hair and beard and stache, but whats wrong with that?).

I think years ago , there was the connotation that a Bear was heavily bearded, overweight with a gut, and wore dirty jeans and lived in Arkansas. i think that is why i always write that I am embracing my inner bearness, because that is what I seem to be evolving into and I rather like it. Love beards, muscled bodies with hair, love a muscle bear or young cubs. (I also love non bear or cub guys too, like slim non muscled guys shorter than me or sexy smooth faced business type men).

Anyway, the iphone or android app Scruff is a good example of a primarily muscled and well maintained Bear type of guy. (though I am not saying they are all bears on that app).

I like bears and I've always been attracted to thicker bodies. But I like 'em firm.

Beyond my personal attractions I can recognize that a whole range of body sizes can be quite healthy.

Human bears don't need to climb trees but they need to climb stairs and most of them need to lift weight and do cardio to keep their mass firm.

BIG and FAT are not the same thing but they can be if we forget what our bodies need.

I am surprised San Diego made the list.
There is a serious shortage of bear enthusiasts here. icon_neutral.gif

I thought San Francisco would take the top spot! Lol, LA in 4th place? really? lol All I see are cute pretty boys cruising West Hollywood! I've only been to a Bear Party in San Diego once last month. It was all right! Urg, I guess I'm not really into bearish guys so I don't pay attention that much.
