I purchased an all new exhaust system for my 06 Maxima. I just installed the fucking thing 2 days ago and I notice today that the left muffler is gone. I know it was on there yesterday but today... Gone... I've covered a lot of ground over the last 24 hours so I have no clue where to even start looking. Somewhere out there in Vegas is my brand new muffler. With all the drama I had to go through ordering the damn system an installing it... Seriously I wish I never bought it. I know it has increased the horse power on my car but wow what a fucking nightmare. I just hope I didn't cause any wrecks out there on the road when my fucking muffler fell the fuck off of my car. God how embarrassing. In 7 or so hours the company I bought it from should be open for business. I'm pretty sure they will have zero sympathy for what has happened to my car so I doubt I will even get a discount on a replacement muffler. Wow... As late as it is and as tired as I am I seriously doubt I'll be able to sleep tonight with this bull shit on my mind.icon_evil.gif

Damn that does suck! Those are expensive! Are you sure it fell off? Any "friends" have their eye on it? The only reason I ask (not to accuse youur friends) is because one of my best friends from back in the day broke out my car window for my radar detector! I saved up for that one!

Regardless, its gone. I feel your pain buddy.

You personally installed it, not an auto shop? If they installed it, they can have liability for poor work, that caused it to fall off. Although they may claim it could have been stolen, which is a possibility these days.

More and more cars are having parts stolen from them, and the exhaust system is one of them. Though usually they don't take the time to unbolt them, but use power saws to cut them off. Is the remaining exhaust intact, or show signs of cutting?

Yeah, are you sure it wasnt stolen? I feel like you would have noticed a HUGE difference in the noise level of your car if the muffler just fell off in the middle of the street.... you would have been like, what the hell is that, while you were driving.... and probably would have felt some sort of movement from the back of the car as well.

I'm siding with the notion someone gaffled it off your car! You would have heard the difference in your car if it fell off while you were driving or someone would have drove along side you to let you know it fell off, I mean it's not some little gasket that fell off it was a muffler! Dude, someone yanked yo shit and THAT SUCKS!!!!!

assuming the muffler was welded in place (as it should be), there is little chance of it simply falling off. You can probably tell if it was cut off looking at the exhaust pipe end.
I've heard a lot of stories of people with accessible catalytic converter getting ripped off for the copper in the unit, and I can also imagine that a nice, expensive (and shiny new) muffler would be a potential target as well. If it looks new and can be resold, it is a target for somebody.

OMG! I just got off the phone with the company that I bought the exhaust from. They won't sell me just the left muffler lol. I have to buy them in pairs or they will be stuck with a right muffler... Thanks assholes. There goes another $425... Cattman now has $1657.69 off of me. I'll be certain to buy my headers from a diff company. I tried calling my insurance company to see if they could cover anything. They said they could but they would require a police report.

Yup I installed the system myself from the y pipe, all the way to the exhaust. Every part of the system fit great except the left muffler. I tightened the clamp down but the muffler wouldn't stay locked in place. The right side fit perfect no movement at all. I really didn't think that the left side was so loose that it would actually fall the fuck off. Wow was I wrong. I am very sure that the left side just fell off and it wasn't stolen so I'm not going to file a report on it.

I prob would have welded it on but I don't have access to welding equipment. The whole thing about after market installations for my car was that I wanted to do them all myself. I installed a Nismo intake, Stillen sway bar, and Cattman exhaust all on my own. I still want to do a short shifter, lighter fly wheel, and eventually headers. I saw on youtube a guy that put turbo in his 6 generation Maxima. Turbo/ supercharger is too advanced for me to do. I'd have to hire a shop to do it for me. Anyway this all fuckn blows and I'm pissed.

I also have 19" Nismo rims. They weight about 5 lbs less per rim compared to the stock rims. I wasn't expecting those to stay on my car for very long but they haven't been stolen yet so I really doubt some prick went after my exhaust and left my rims. Any way thanks guys. Sucks ass but I'll just have to eat that missing muffler since I can't prove to the company that they sold me a shitty part.

I just really hope it didn't fall off on the interstate and cause an accident. I'll check the pipe today. If it looks like it was stolen then I will do the report but I doubt it was.

Dude that totally sucks, even more so because you did the work yourself. And who's ever heard of having to seel mufflers in pairs? That's just rediculous!!
