Any of you have one? Any of you would be okay with working with one? Why or why not?

Would be fine working with a female personal trainer. Many of them are great!

The company I used to work for set up a gym and hired a team of personal trainers to come in and work with us in small groups. They let me continue the program even though I'm no longer an employee. Anyway, the instructors for both the groups I go to (one is more curcuit, one is more strength) are lead by women.

One is a bit more seasoned then the other and really knows what she's doing, but I don't have any complaints about either of them. Plus, they are much, much less distracting. When one of them is showing me an exercise, I'm actually paying attention to the exercise!

Although, now that you mention it, I think I may work a litle harder when the instructor is a man. Must be one of those macho, competitive things. Huh.

The gym I used to go to there was one female trainer that kicked all of the male trainers' butts. She was the only one of the trainers who was actually in good shape. If I had hired a trainer at that gym, it would have been her, the male trainers were in awful shape..one was what we could consider significantly overweight, had moobs and was very flabby. Besides instruction, I look at trainers' bodies for motivation. So, sometimes female trainers can be better than males.

It's never about the gender of the trainer. It's all about their knowledge and ability to communicate and motivate. I've worked with several female that could kick the butt of most trainers.

And for us it takes the chance of wanting to have sex with our trainer out of the picture....... icon_twisted.gif That is a good thing, helps in concentration.

I've had several female trainers in my time at the gym.
My current trainer is not only a female but she's like..4'' 6".
A lot smaller than me ! LOL ! But she kicks my ass in the gym
more than any other trainer, both male and female, ever has !

Lol wow kind of sexist don't you think? I wouldn't care if my trainer has a cooch or a wang. I'm more concerned about his/ her credentials. You're paying for their knowledge not their sex so to speak lol.

I worked with one before and she was awesome! But I would be wary of another one nonetheless. It's not an issue of gender so much as I prefer to work with trainers that have a similar body structure to my own. As an ectomorph, working with a trainer that is naturally bulky and hasn't had to focus on gaining weight doesn't really do me a lot of good, and there aren't too many women out there that are actively trying to gain weight. The female trainer I worked with before wasn't either, but she knew enough about hard-gainers to actually be of some help.

I had a female personal trainer for a year and although she was a nice person at the end of that year my measurements and bodyfat were practically identical. It seeemd that she. like most trainers, just had a few proframs to run through and if they didn't work than she didn't know what to do.

Go with a guy your age and around your body type, I say.

Frankly speaking I never am comfortable with female. I have a few female friend at work , a few great female manager in the past and a sister. Thats it.

All my friend is men. Mostly gays. I get uncomfortable sitting next to a female , be alone with them or being in the same car with them. A female personal trainer is not a good idea with me. I probably can do aerobic with a female instructor when we are in a safe distance. But a one on one personal trainer , got to be a men for me. I guess I am 200 percent gay.
