It's cheesy, it's lame, it's sappy, but it's me in this moment.

I know people think this site has gone "downhill", and it may has, but I hope at least to some of you you can understand the positive impact it has had on me as well as many others.

I joined this in Feb of 2012 when I was unsure about my sexuality. I think I always knew, but suppressed it. I lurked he forums for weeks before I decided to actually join. Being able to connect with other gay individuals in this forum helped me unlock a part of me that I kept hidden from myself for so long.

In March I came out to my family and closest friends. I was never happier when people loved me and accepted me for who I was (which all of them did... I lost no friends but gained many). In May I acted on my feelings and flew to the other side of the country to meet my first boyfriend and have my first kiss, cuddle, and well... everything! That was my first time ever leaving the state of Alabama and it opened my eyes to other parts of the world, and made me realize that I want to experience other places besides here when presented with the opportunity.

In June of this year I went to Gay Day's in Disney World. I was able to connect with hundreds of other gay men, and it was amazing. It felt so awesome to be surrounded by other people who were not afraid to be who they were and show it. I honestly think that was my point when I came completely proud of being gay and even being associated with the community.

To this day I wonder what would happen if I simply just didn't visit the site and decided to hide who I was some more. Just in two years I opened myself to more opportunities than I had in 19 years of my life. I finally felt liberated and felt I could evolve as a person. I really can't show my appreciation for you guys enough.

You know, right now there may be some guy in his teens, 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's, or any age that is still afraid to be who he is because society will say it's wrong. I hope if you're reading this that there will be people out there to support you, and the opportunity to be who you truly are is the best opportunity in life, and it's never too late to take it.

I don't know what to say to you guys because it all really does mean a whole awful lot to me. More than a lot of you will ever know. I've become a greater human being and I owe all of you so much, but for now all I can give is a simple thank you.

I wish I have the courage to do what you did. As I get older, the closet feels more and more suffocating. icon_cry.gif

Aristoshark saidI'd like to say, Josh, that it has been a pleasure being your friend for the past year. You are such an inspiration, the way that you power through things that would have laid many a lesser man low. I'm so proud of you on so many levels.

Sharky and the OP are awesome icon_smile.gif
