What is an athletic body?

Many here on RJ seem to believe that an athletic build is large and muscular. My opinion is that smaller men are generally able to do more with their bodies and thus more athletic. But regardless of what either of us think, this artist shows us that "athletic" comes in all shapes and sizes, by photographing olympic athletes from all sorts of disciplines next to each other:

    Interesting stuff.

I have always thought athletic to mean a slender, lean type of guy when being used to describe a body type. A muscular man can be 'athletic' (meaning skillful in athletics), for example.. football players, MMA fighters, etc.
