Ok so this is a few days past, but I can't get it out of my head. Anyone else have a black Friday experience from hell?

My Bloody, horrifying trip to Walmart.

My mom put me up to going to Walmart at the start of black friday since I live a mile away and they live out of town. She also offered to pay me a little for my trouble. So in spite of better judgment and only out of sense of obligation I agree to do this.

So I get to Walmart to get this damn Xbox 360 Guitar Hero 3 combo thing and there was one palate of about 35 total. I get there early and secure my spot, and in the final minutes before the sale starts hundreds of people enter the store and line up in different spots for different items. I manage to get a spot right next to the xbox combos so I'm feeling pretty good about my chances to get one of these and get out of here and go home and sleep. Given all these short old ladies around me, and being the tallest one right next to the damn things this should be a fairly quick, easy and painless ordeal. Little did I know about the power of crazed old lunes jacked up on excessive caffeine and high on shopping.

So the announcer comes over and tells employees the sale begins so they start to cut the plastic off the palate. I grab the top box all is well. Not so fast. Within seconds there are people pulling on my arms, grabbing the box, scratching, etc. One little lady probably in her late 40's is climbing up the side of this thing to get to one of these when she is knocked off/falls. I see her hit the ground and her skull bounces hard off the floor. She is knocked out cold and her eyes are open, she looks eerily dead. Her little girl is there and starts screaming at the top of her lungs "No mama". Of course this will not stop the crazed shoppers as they go around her, being so nice as to not trample her, this is the midwest after all. Within a short amount of time store personnel ask everyone to step away from her and stay back. The frenzy continues. By this point I had various scratches and cuts on my arms from holding on to this damn box as people tried to rip it out of my hands, so I am bleeding, and I take my bloody box up to the check out, where the damn computer will not ring up this boxed delight. Finally after 20 minutes of screwing around and consulting everyone, they finally get it to work. I head out the door to try and sleep off the traumatic experience of my first and last black friday excursion.

I had to work that day in retail. The lowlight of the day was a phone customer, who after spending a minute telling me how much he loved our company, asked me how to spell "Snake", since he was on our website looking to purchase a book on snakes.icon_rolleyes.gif

I have a huge respect for anyone with the patience to work in retail period let alone on that heinous day.

I don't have the patience. You saved what $80-100 compared to getting good deal elsewhere.

    To save that

    You got up at 4am.
wasted time you could have spent with friends or family during the holidays
    Drove outside town
Queued for an hour or more
Had to get up close, touch, smell some of the biggest low lifes
Got scratched and clawed to bits
Embarrassed yourself in front of your friends when they find out you went to such lengths for a materialistic crap you didn't really want.

Fair enough if you're on the breadline and it's what your kids really want for Christmas and you couldn't afford it otherwise. but most of the people are their just compulsively buying crap

Unfortunately, I was working that day...at 4.00 in the morning. That just made the day hell to begin with.

I was driving to meet friends for lunch and was the third car in line parked at a red light outside Toys R Us. Suddenly, people started streaming out of it in a frenzy and I saw the staff evacuate out the side doors. Soon, two cop cars screamed passed me on my right and sped into the lot. They closed off the intersection and we were all stuck in a panic situation until they finally released all the traffic.

We actually made national news because two guys shot each other to death inside the store.

I work at Target. I was there. We aren't fucking redneck Walmart so we don't let people die, but it was still crazy.
