Studying College (Fashion/Arts) in New York (need some guidance)

I finally made up my mind.

I want to go to New York to study Fashion or Fine Arts. I've always loved the ARTS and I just cannot contain it anymore. I dont want to keep on putting my dreams aside.

So I been planning on applying to Fashion Institute of Technology or Parsons New School of Design. FIT is much cheaper compared to PARSONS, but PARSONS is really my first choice.

Parsons is really expensive though, the tuition for 1 term is almost $20,000.

I will be working my ass off applying for grants and aids before I apply for student loans. I am just a little scared since nobody in my family knows about the processes here in the US since we just moved here. I am pretty much doing all the research all by myself. I have called FAFSA and will be apply for grant when the application period opens in January.

    So yea, my questions are:

If in case, I get enough grants and aids and I get a little help with student loan, what do you suggest that I do to shoulder non-school related expenses? Like my toiletries, pocket money if i need to ride a cab, those little stuff that requires you to have money in hand.

I am currently working. I will be saving all my salary so that I can use it for emergency funds and stuff like that.

Is it easy to find a job in New York? I am planning on going full-time but according to my research, students at Parsons go to class only 4 days a week. So I have 3 days off which I can use for working part time.

I am an adult student. I know my mom cant support me financially. I will be supporting myself the whole time in College. Its just kind of overwhelming but I know when I start school, I will do good. I am very driven and I really strive hard for what i want in life.

Also, do I need a car in New York? I am planning on living in their dorm and maybe move out after the first year if i can find some off campus dorm which is cheaper.

Please if you have any advice about College, or New York, or taking up Fashion or ART as a major, please share them. I will really appreciate it so much. Thank you guys.

Below are some of my drawings. I still have to reshoot them because I might include them in my portfolio.

As a fellow art student,I am going to give u a little warning here, you must really push over your limit and boudary in the part department, not to mention passion and desire to imporove and grow.Because you know what, art is a bitch!Countless sleepless night, unfinish homework, work till late night, you probably won't have time to get a job, unless u sleep like 4 hours per day. Also,do I mention the fee you pay does not include the art material you use.Mounting board, drawing paper in different sizes, soft pastel, charcoal, and the worst and expensive, the color, arcylic and oil paint.

I study so hard and all I got is grade B+.WTF

just an unknown local college,it is no way compared to parson where Alexander Wang,Jason Wu and Marc Jacob attended. The shit is that now I am sick like a dog, unwilling to draw, like who care,my lecturer will give me another 50% again, why bother to try,uh!I want CGPA 3.8!!

P.S. Dont abuse the shadow,in the audrey hepburn one, dark shadow should be closer to jaw line and blur it way out,and the mj's cheek bone should get more highlight since there is where the light hits if I am not mistaken.James Deen and the last one is amazing, keep it up.

    Your drawings are gorgeous.
I was an art major and usually dread evaluating other people's artwork but these are so beautiful.
