(Caution, Spoilers ahead, read at your own risk) icon_eek.gif

I saw this yesterday with my bro, sis and 2 nephews! Surprisingly, I really like it! That one British actor who played Finnick (Sam Claflin) is hot! And Gale, Liam Hemsworth is sexy too! He's a minor character though! Jen Lawrence is great in it ! OMG Josh Hutcherson is such a cutie, Lol my type!! Did any of you guys see this? Any thoughts? !! I give it a 9/10. Good plot, good acting, great action sequences esp. the fight scene with the monkeys!! I like this one better than the first.

Agree on the hot Finnick and Gale for sure. And agree it was marginally better than the first. But I gave it a 6ish as far as movies go in general, and that was generous IMHO.

I saw it and liked it a lot more than the first one. I read the book as well. It's funny the guy above said the ending was terrible. While I don't think it was terrible, I feel it is frustrating. Having read the book I knew this going in. It's a complete cliffhanger. You just want the story to keep going. And I hear the third book will be split into two movies so that's a bit more frustrating.

I abandoned the third book initially reading the trilogy, but after seeing this I am going to pick it up to finish. Catching Fire was very well done and captured more of the tragedy of what the games are versus the first movie which I feel missed something.

The ending is a cliffhanger! setting up an epic battle for the third film/chapter! Kinda like the Matrix Reloaded and Harry Potter Deathly Hallows part 1! I haven't read the books yet, I have a feeling that Katniss and her allies/other districts will come to the Capital and rescue Josh's character & Johanna in the final film! (((icon_biggrin.gif)))

    Agreed.

Jena Malone (as Johanna) was brilliant, and Jennifer Lawrence ran the show.

Most people are upset at the ending but that's how it was in the book. Cliffhanger.
I loved the movie, it had a lot more action than the first.

No kidding but I read that the guy who played Gloss is 28 years old. He looks much older! Poor thing...but he's still hot! icon_biggrin.gif

The endings only terrible if you didn't read the books. It's a perfect lead into part 1 of mocking jay

My sister and her boyfriend both yelled out "That's it?!" at the end of the movie! It got a good chuckle out of most of the other viewers. I told them there was another book and another movie (or two if they do it HP style) coming.

This was a great follow up to the first movie. I thought the first movie was pretty good, but I definitely enjoyed this second movie more. Hoping the trend holds out for the third (and possibly fourth) movie(s).

Definitely need to put Mockingjay on my re-read list.

I read "Mockingjay" twice, it's tough to read through the first time because you feel disappointed at the end, but after re-reading it, I totally understand it more. "Catching Fire" was my favorite, but after reading "Mockingjay" for a second time, I have to say, that's my favorite. Can't wait for the movie.

I too, knew what was gonna happen and the ending was great because even though I knew what was gonna happen, I at then end wanted to continue and see the rest... (SPOILER) I wonder how they're gonna do that war in the Capitol with the streets collapsing and tar bombs?

I'd give it a 10. I'd also give it to any of the 3 hotties everyone else mentioned.

nomatterwhat saidHm, I think that the ones who thought the ending was bad, maybe didn't read the book? Because it was supposed to be like this. It's a cliffhanger. There's still Mockingjay and it will be split in two parts, and if you don't like the ending, you better be ready for Monckingjay Part I, because it will probably happen the same thing. I loved this movie. Comparing to the first one, the second seems like they had more 'support' to develop a huge movie. One thing I like it, it's that it's more mature and with less 'teenage romance appeal' than the first. Can't wait for Mockingjay Part I. icon_smile.gif And, of course, Jennifer Lawrence always being awesome.

THIS. Sums up what I thought when I was reading the posts. Seriously, read the books.

I was actually really impressed with how it was made and how closely it stuck to the book. The acting and casting could never have been better, the action sequences were more thrilling, scenes between characters more tense, and I especially enjoyed how the arena scene was filmed and how it brought in more of the struggle for water and food instead of the typical good vs bad of the first film (also liked the fog, jabberjay's, monkey muttations it was all cool).

IMO, I think with Jennifer Lawrence and a cast of up-and-coming young actors like Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth and Sam Claflin, they started taking this movie really seriously.

My only complaint is that IMO Catching Fire is where the series peaks. Mockingjay is a disappointment. I hope to god that splitting Mockingjay into two will allow the filmmakers to extend their creativity and improve on where Suzanne went horribly wrong.

They're splitting Mockingjay? Ok probably for the better so they can get more stuff in. I gave Catching Fire an 8 out of 10 because they left out the part where Kat meets the girls in the woods who are on the run and tell her about District 13. The movie just kind of threw 13 in at the beginning and end, maybe confusing for people who hadn't read the books. But the rest was greatly done!

    Finnick, sexy, etc.

I have not seen this, mostly because crowds in movie theaters are loud and stupid, but I will say this, it probably sucks.

    Very good entertaining movie.
I'd say the movie was 95% accurate to the book.
Great actors, great special effects/costume etc.
It's definitely not one of those teenage movies like Twilight like some people think.
