Would you brave the beach if you had this on your body?! ***PICTURE INSIDE***

    Hi guys,

I'm going away with my parents next February and I SHOULD be excited. One week in Egypt on the coast, amazing hotel, all inclusive, guaranteed good weather etc. But I'll be honest, I'm absolutely dreading going to the beach or the swimming pool. I know I don't have a good body which is reason enough to feel anxious but I also have some stupid rare immune disease where my body tries to repair damage that isn't there. I'm not gonna bore you with the scientific, my skin basically makes too much collagen and I've got major discoloration as a result.

    <a href=/imgur.com/I53MBHF">I53MBHF.jpg">

Honestly...I feel like a freak show. I KNOW people stare and even if they're staring out of curiosity rather than disgust, I still hate it. Up until my teens when I didn't have this, I was a normal guy. It seems almost everyone is seeking perfection, I literally just want normality. Don't tell me this is normal because it isn't. The average person doesn't have all this on their body. I seriously want to cry (and often do) when I look in the mirror. I feel so incredibly ugly. I really, really want to go on this holiday and just go to the beach and be a NORMAL F***ING GUY! If this was on your body I think you'd get how I feel. People obsess over stretchmarks and acne scars, this is significantly worse. This isn't a positive or even "unique" flaw in any way. Its ugly and therefore makes me ugly since its in such a prominent place.

Go on holiday to the beach and potentially have fun or sit this one out? What would you do and why.

I was expecting something gross lol

Looks like a birthmark to me . Nothing weird.

If it bothers you so much just wear a tank top. I do that sometimes at the beach when I'm not feeling good about my body.

Sexy body by the way ;)

I had legit gynecomastia as a teen and finally had the extra fatty tissue removed a little over three years ago when I'd worked out all I could and it still wouldn't go away. I felt like I had my adolescence and young adulthood robbed from me because of it, so I completely understand how you feel when you say that you don't desire perfection, just normalcy.

You look great my man. We tend to notice and pay attention to the worst things about ourselves. Take your shirt off at the beach and enjoy your vacation! icon_cool.gif

I dont think it's all that significant. It just looks like a birth mark or something.... I wouldn't really even give it a second glance if I saw u walking along the beach. It's really not all that big of a deal looking. It's not like u have a massive goider on your neck or something.

Also, you'll be in Egypt....you won't run into anyone u know. Just enjoy the holiday and stop obsessing over yourself. I dont think it looks like anything bad. It's not like it's all nasty and scaley or peeling off of u or anything, it's just discolored.

Yeah, just like a birthmark, quite minor. I'd hardly notice that on another guy. And lots of guys wear T-shirts on the beach to protect from the sun, at least in the US.

I don't see the big deal. They look like a birthmark, not a gaping oozing wound.

This. That's what I thought it was. It's NOT A BIG DEAL. And if you get bored, you can even connect the dots and make a picture. See, it's a lot more fun than you think. icon_wink.gif

    That is not "major" discoloration.
Even though I see absolutely NOTHING that you should be concerned about, you can't help it if it bothers you.

What you have to do is to adopt a "so what" attitude.

Get your ass out to the beach, take off your shirt, and have fun.

Nobody's there for a beauty pageant or a fashion show. They're all there for the same reason you will be there: to enjoy a day at the beach.

    Go, go, go !

I thought it was going to be, like, a stoma or something.

You look fine. Relax and enjoy the beach!

I agree with everybody above. This is not a bad situation. You've got a good, lean build and a few marks are just fine. Lots of good looking guys have a few marks on them and as long as it's not a wart with a big ole' hair growing out of it........just make very little of it and all your future dates will do the same. If anyone says anything, just say - "It's just a marking I have." They'll take their cues from you on how much of a deal it is.

Myself - I have some markings on my chest - front and side - where I was shot by a house burglar back when I was a teen. The bullet holes are small, but noticeable to this day. I used to get asked about them, and it freaked out some guys, but they immediately took my cues that it was no big thing.

    Is... is that it?

You're paying that much mind to something for THAT!?

Man, something is wrong with guys these days if that's something to be self conscious about.

Are you serious? I would not even pay that any attention. I have freckles and moles all over my body and I would gladly trade yours for mine.

I know exactly how you feel as i've had a couple of discolouration marks on my chest (from something so stupid years ago), and was reaalllyyyy self-conscious about it too.

The thing is, it's 100 times worse in our ow heads. Most people don't even remotely notice it, let alone focus on it. Whereas we magnify it in our own psyche.

Your skin marks, to me, look like an interesting birthmark, or a cool scar. I wouldn't pay attention to it unless I was specifically scanning your body for details. If i was walking past you on the beach, i'd be much more apt to notice how well built and or facially handsome, or not, you may be, via an automatic and momentary glance.

Your tiny skin marks wouldn't come into the informal assessment.

Enjoy your self, take your shirt off at the beach, and wherever else it feels even mildly appropriate. Get used to the feeling. Let loose and have a good time.

    Live life! =]

thebearerofbadnews saidlooks like reverse vitiligo. you'll be alright.

Haha that's exactly what I call it!

Thank you for everyone for taking the time out to read and reply. I guess the general vibe is its not that big a deal to most people but me. Its really, really hard trying to tell myself I can be attractive with something I never see on anyone else. The media has me catfished. They sold me the perfect skin, perfect body, perfect face = perfect life dream and I bought it. I'm gonna try to just enjoy my vacation and enjoy me in general icon_smile.gif

    Thank you all again xx

I can understand your feeling, I have a birth mark pion my upper thigh that for years that I allowed to prevent me from wearing shorts or go swimming. It took a good friend to say get over it.

I would say don't worry, no one is going to really notice and you are going to be fine!

Just tell people it's a map of Hawaii. You love Hawaii so much, you had it branded to your body. People will think you're badass. icon_cool.gif
