Just kidding. Some online retailers are starting to accept bitcoins. And I think some dude bought a house with bitcoins. If you want in on the action, better do it now. I think it's going to collapse eventually.

But i'll tell you anyway icon_biggrin.gif.

I'm primarily using them for currency exchange, medium-term investments.

Among other more badass things, ofc.

I went to a bitcoin meetup yesterday and there were quite a few businesses there that are already, or are in the process of, accepting bitcoins for payment.

My old local pub actually accepts BTC as payment (the owner is an esteemed former IT/programming PhD researcher from Cambridge University, who decided to give up academia for fun pub life).

I think the BTC may go through temporary spikes in the future, but, i'm quite confident that it will keep on climbing for some time to come (perhaps until government interference tries to wrangle a stronghold on it for their own gain, but even then, techies will find a way around it sooner or later- we will not be thwarted).

    icon_lol.gif Absurd.

Bitcoins are unstable. Their value is solely based on what others happen to think they're worth at the time. Interesting concept, but I prefer money with backup.

    Food for thought:

Yes. Get your skin bleached. Then change the title of this thread to: Is the guy above you into Bitcoins?

    Oh, you know me! ;]

Unstable, sure. But the track record for their dramatic and exponential increase in value in comparison to it's decrease (unheard of as of yet), is just too tempting not to (smartly) invest in. At least until the tides are about to turn.

    Wish me luck, boo! icon_biggrin.gif

I think it's kinda funny how Amazon created their own digital currency. I wonder if anyone else created their own as well.

Inorite? Pffff, I can't see that currency taking off, not for a measly 10% amazon site discount (maximun) at least.

    I'm working on it.

I'm a bit of a skeptic actually. But I'm very curious about the topic in general. The internet is somewhat ubiquitous now and mobile tech has exploded in recent years. Traditional currency can't keep up with our needs. We need a new "digital" currency. I'm not convinced that BTC is the solution. But more like a stepping stone. If/when BTC fails, there will be something new to replace it. It might take a few more failures until there is something more viable.
