This bathroom has been a popular place since beginning of time - I think. I guess the public has had enough of cruising. Also announcement of a bust at the LA Library Downtown this year.

Can you imagine the risk these brave men in uniform are taking when doing these undercover operations? Must be overwhelming compared to fighting you know, actual crime in Downtown LA.

Yeah, let's be thankful those police departments have their priorities right.

Breaking news: Obama was re-elected. Did anyone notice that this happened a year and a half ago? The article is dated April 2012. We talked about it on the forums since the MB glory hole in question has been infamous since the pre-Stonewall days.

I know the head of L.A.'s library foundation, and he is very gay friendly. The library busts occurred because of complaints from workers and patrons; the LAPD was obliged to respond. If the guys had been more discreet -- like they were for the past fifty years -- there would have been no busts.

I think public sex is hot, but the word "public" should refer to location, not to forcing others to witness your sex acts due to your carelessness. Guys are getting bolder and less responsible -- a result I think of our culture's disregard for privacy due to the rise of voyeurism and social networking.

And having spent my entire post-grad 20s living in a beach bungalow right at the border of Hermosa/Manhattan (slice of heaven btw), I can assure you the officers there have nothing to do besides this. My roommates and I slept with our doors unlocked and our windows open, it's so safe there. Being an officer or firefighter in those beach towns is probably one of the world's best jobs.

Public sex means accepting the risks and taking responsibility for ones own choices. If you get caught, own it.

After posting I realized the date of arrest for Manhattan Beach was last year. The library was earlier this year also, but the news just announced today in the LA news about the Central Library arrests. I remember long ago about the Central Library being cruisy. I remember the May Co. in Lakewood being so cruisy, you would walk in there and it smelled musty of sex back in the 90s. That's how bad it gets in these places with humidity dripping off the walls and T-shirts blocking the cracks of the stalls. I found out in Manhattan Beach there is one outstanding 5 million dollar lawsuit against the city because one of the guys "Charles S. Couch" was actually just there to help a handicapped kid use the bathroom. Supposedly the cops took him as a bathroom masturbator. I don't know what Obama has to do with anything though.

maybe if the entire south bay area of LA was a bit more, ummm, a lot more gay friendly? there are no gay mens bars or even adult book stores, the south bay beach cities are extremely hetero party spots

the south bay is NOT West Hollywood, at all, nor like Santa Monica, the SFV or Long Beach, not even like Los Angeles or downtown.

the south bay cities hetero have claimed it for themselves, I call it, "Orange County North", Newport Beach, Seal Beach and Huntington Beach are sister cities to Manhattan, Hermosa, Redondo beach party spots

these poor, very unattractive, looks like some closeted men in this area of LA probably don't know that there are other places in Los Angeles area to meet men, like a legal bath house, there is no need to cruise public bathrooms in Los Angeles, if this library was located in Nebraska, then maybe they would have a reason, but they still have nowhere to go in the hetero world of the southbay

I would never live in any of these cities regardless how close to the ocean they are

It reminds me of all the sting operations done on heterosexual prom night. Remember them being shamed in the newspapers. Their mothers were so upset by all the photos. It was such a scandal. Thank God they stopped harassing the heterosexuals, huh?

Oh, that's right, heteros never fuck in public.

I've seen that scene numerous times of heteros humping on the beach. Yet I have never seen a lifeguard stop it, have never seen a cop arrest them, have never seen their pictures published all over the fucking papers.

Just as soon as all the bullying stops, just as soon as gay people are endowed with their human rights, not just here, but around the world, just as soon as a few generations after that have themselves faded into the past, maybe by then we will trust each other and trust the world well enough to say hi to each other, ya wanna fuck? without the aid of a GPS app or a cheap hotel room.

Hey, let's meet for coffee after work, I know a great restroom on the beach we can hit after dinner and a movie.

If they just want to put a stop to the lewd activity in public restrooms wouldn't putting up a big sign both inside and outside the restroom saying that it's illegal and a warning that undercover cops are doing sting operations? If anyone gets arrested after that then they're stupid.

And why did they feel the need to publish their pictures and names?

I thought that Hermosa Beach was a pretty progressive but laid back seaside town. I am well aware of racist and homophobic beach towns in Orange County, that is a given because of Orange County's reputation and history.

After that? Anyone who needs a sign to know this is illegal was stupid long before that.

    A legit excuse...if it were 1963.

Gay guys in Los Angeles in 2013 do not have to use public restrooms for sexual security anymore. These guys were doing this because they wanted to and because they liked the thrilled. They lost the gamble.

It's time for some gays to grow up and take responsibility for their choices.
