I used to understand the idea of headless photos on the internet back in the days where the military and intelligence agencies had people looking for their personnel on those sites to either discharge them or revoke their security clearance. Those days are long gone. Primary and secondary teachers in conservative states in the South and plains states are really the last ones that might have to worry at this point. Outside of that, I assume they're either married or closeted. I don't judge, but I expect a face pic from anyone that initiates a discussion with me. Otherwise, I can't be bothered.

Headless photos bring no dignity to this community. They bring shame.

Med, if you look at torsos long enough you'll see a face; the nips are the eyes and the belly button is a mouth making an 'O' of surprise. icon_biggrin.gif

Try and remember that people steal pics, and that in some States you can get fired for being gay! Bosses have access to google image searches and so do coworkers that may not have your best interests in mind.

LOL, sometimes the site crops photos for us, at least in thumbnail view. I don't know if it's a computer algorithm or somebody doing micro-task work. The last main pic I had, they cropped off my head. Maybe they didn't want to upset people who might be browsing the site while eating breakfast. icon_razz.gif If one actually clicked on the thumbnail, the whole pic was displayed.

In my country (like in many countries in the world and in ALL Middle Eastern countries), it is illegal to have gay relationships (if those relationships involve sex, even consensual sex).

Privacy is a funny thing, and we all have our preference on how much or how little we choose to open ourselves up to others.

My pics are all "headless", but through the wonders of technology, I have the means to show anyone my face at anytime.

To be frank, people with the ultimatums, or some of the posters in this thread, that "can't be bothered"....please, don't be bothered. If you can't be bothered to undrestand that certain guys may not be comfortable with showing their face right off the bat, that they may be closeted, that they may be dealing with a messy situation, including an unhappy marriage, or worse, then I really don't want to be bothered with someone who lacks that kind of understanding.

NO ONE OWES YOU ANYTHING. If someone wants to get to know me, guess what? I have no qualms about showing you my face. Do I need to do it openly and publicly, and to everybody on this site? Absolutely not.

Can you judge me? Sure. But try to understand me instead.

On that note, Happy Thanksgiving wishes from this "headless horseman". icon_biggrin.gif

And now my serious response to the pictureless/headless:

While I can completely understand why members might be recalcitrant about posting their pictures on a gay jock website which by definition would be hypercritical of appearance, some of RJ's most prolific and popular posters range from what would be considered average to unapologetically unattractive. The fact is that if you're seeking friends, chat and personal workout advice humans innately respond to facial recognition. All things being otherwise equal in an online argument, readers won't be able to help but subconsciously side with the face, which is more relatable than a headless torso or No Photo avatar. In short, revealing one's face makes one more credible, and choosing to stay hidden puts one at a decided disadvantage, particularly since there's a presumption of guilt given the sheer number of online fakers. Unless there are legitimate privacy concerns why not post a pic?

Relatedly, I think a profile with a picture but nothing else is equally revealing. I find that disrespectful to the poster and the viewer - the poster because everyone has worth and should be proud to say something about themselves, and the viewer because not everyone on here is just interested in trolling pictures. If you have time to upload a picture, you have time to say something about yourself. If you're a very private person you don't have to reveal too much. If you feel you lack writing skills, humor, creativity or anything interesting to say, so what? Say something. It's our flaws that make us interesting.

The fact that I'm still working on my body and am not "ready" to reveal it on a jock site. Progress takes time. Those of you who reveal all inspire me to continue to work out and build lean muscle. Thank you!

I look forward to the day I can show you what someone can look like with a little determination and a lot of hard work. Hell, I might even be willing to post a before photo. I'm just not there yet.

Here are a few reasons.. (not towards anyone in particular).. but if you have anything to say after the comments below.. feel free to contact directly.

    1. CHOICE

I simply choose not to do so, just like you simply choose to do so.. which should not render any problems from either side. "Why ask Why?"

    2. CONTROL

Online, I control who I want to see my face for the most part.

    3. FITNESS:

I am here primarily for fitness.. physique. That's what I look at here. That's what I show. If I worked my face out at the gym then perhaps I'd show it.

    4. A "YOU" PROBLEM

I care not if anyone here thinks I'm ugly due to no face photo. That says more about your cerebral process than my looks.. which makes it a "you" problem.

    5. OVER SHARING

I think that most people "over share". Which is fine if that's what they want to do. However I'm not one of them.

    6. Live Video

I care not for anyone else to have a face photo because I would require LIVE VIDEO CONFERENCE before I would ever meet them anyway. Stolen Photos, iPhone Filtered / Photoshop Photos, Lighting, etc.. Even the ugliest troll can make himself look like a beautiful prince in a photo. There are people I had talked to online and via phone for years, yet never known what they looked like. Longest.. about 2 years. I enjoyed their intelligence, conversation, knowledge, genuine friendliness, and other non physical characteristics. They just so happened to all turn out to be good looking people.

    7. GRAZIES - GAY CRAZIES

Crazy people collecting photos of every guy and making personal reference archives to "look up, recall, share, etc of who was on what site, at what time, and is this the same person that we saw over there etc etc etc. Put that energy into a job that requires those type of skills and get paid.

    8. SOCIAL NETWORKING vs REAL LIFE

Contrary to popular belief, meeting people online is not the same as meeting them on the street (at least in my opinion). Not sure why people don't understand this, but I digress. People make this internet thing harder than it ever has to be. IF you really want to be friends with someone, how they look should be a COMPLETE non factor. Who they are should be your concern. Find out the content of their character. If you are only interested sexually, then yes.. for sure.. go strictly on their flesh. This is probably why so many end up with false friendships and have slept with most if not all of their "friends". I actually have found that the people with NO photos at all tend to not only be great people but also tend to look great.

I do not show my face because of my career.

I hide my identity, because I enjoy anonymity and posting personal things to the forum. The last thing I would want would be someone I know going back and reading all of my posts.

I show my body as proof that I am in good shape. It is a sports website after all.

I usually show my face if people ask.
