I need complete silence and complete darkness. I can't fathom people who can sleep with music/sounds or lights on. Actually I sleep best with white noise, such as the whirr of a fan.

I can hardly sleep with lights on. I need complete darkness .

Candlelights make me sleepy and calm though.

Complete darkness in a cold room with heavy blankets and a loud fan is heaven!

I'm totally dead to the world when I sleep. I have to wear earplugs (to drown out any sound) and an eye mask (to block any light).

i worked nights for a decade. 2pm sunshine is great to sleep in. I can sleep through my smoke detector (gah). Kids and dripping taps would prevent it though. Other than that you can jump up and down on the bed, and fun an ambulance around the parking lot and Im a brick. My heartrate drops to about 25 and for most intents and purposes I could be dead. The really funny thing is that if the phone rings I will answer it, carry out a fluent conversation, and never actually be awake. All my friends were trained to ask me if i was asleep if they called during the day, which I would answer yes to if I was sleep answering. They would have to email back with details or i would deny having known about the conversation.

Dark. I keep my iPhone on the nightstand, use its light if I need to get up and not trip or bump into things, which doesn't disturb my husband.

I love utter darkness when I sleep. If I could turn the moon and stars off outside at night I would. There is something so comfortable about the darkness. Maybe it reminds me of being in the womb, hmmm...

Dark and quiet. When I had to live in the city, I went years without really ever sleeping.
