Does anyone even watch or am I posting a pointless forum like some of my others lol?

    Boxing:

Tonight is the delahoya and pacquiao fight, any ideas on who will win.
I watched every HBO show about those guys and in my opinion pacquiao swings around like a little monkey.

    what do you think?

    UFC:

I was very pissed when Brock Lesnar won against Randy Couture, Randy was totally winning and that one thing cost him the match. Main events in the UFC seem to be not worth it. This is why I love it when the smaller guys fight, it last longer. Oh and I'm not saying Brock is hot but damn I'd love a guy like that to show me whos boss lol.
Big blonde hick, come get it baby ha-ha

DOES ANYONE EVEN KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT

I love UFC...and also prefer the low scale fights. I tend to watch Spike TV and happen upon UFC semis regularly on the weekends. I like the 'The Ultimate Fighter' too. As for Brock Lesnar...YUCK!

I know nothing about about boxing and rarely find it entertaining.

Yeah the Lesnar fight was difficult to watch. I really thought Captain America would pull out another underdog win like with Gonzaga. But the guy is 45 after all. Another thing that really sucked about that card was that Vera lost to fuckin Jardine. I don't get how Keith Jardine always beats these guys (Liddell, Forrest)

Don't watch boxing much anymore but I've grown up on MMA (K1, Pride, UFC and Bodog is nothing else is on lol). That's my sport baby.

I'm really stoked for Forrest's next fight. Ever since he beat Shogun I've been obsessed with him.

I'm torn about Griffin v Evans. I really like both fighters. But I've been a fan
of Griffin since his first appearance on the UFC show. So I'll probably
    be cheering for Forrest.

Any comments on St Pierre v Penn ? This should be a good fight !

    MUAHAHAHA!!!!

    WE WON!

Sweet victory, especially since almost all of Pacquaio's opponents tend to underestimate him, being a little guy and all. We have to put up with all the insults the opposing team would sling Pacquiao's way, whenever Pacquiao has a fight. Very insulting comments, often racist ones. Pacquiao, bless his filipino upbringing, never talks back and just takes the insults. The fight will determine who wins eventually anyway.

This reminds me of the Pacquiao-Morales fight. Morales was all bluster and even insulted Pacquaio a few times (like what Oscar's manager did in this fight), and look what happened. Morales got knocked out in the third round. That was one of the most pitiful sights ever. A guy who talked shit about Pacquiao every fuckin interview getting beaten up only in the 3rd round.

Again, this looked like a mistake of underestimating Pacquiao. He grew up in squalor, in conditions DelaHoya can only imagine. Pacquiao has the tenacity and endurance from life on the slums that belies his size. Plus he's one of the best tactical fighters I have seen. He really plans his moves, you can see it in action. None of the random flailing and all too often hugs in other fights. And he's fast. icon_biggrin.gif

So who's eating crow now? icon_razz.gif

This was actually VERY disappointing. I expected a better fight from DelaHoya... he looked zonked out, confused. icon_confused.gif

Anyway, random fact: Almost EVERY filipino watches all of Pacquiao's fights. LOL. He's a national hero. During his fight days, like this one, the entire nation comes to a standstill as everyone is glued to their TV sets. No cars on the roads, stores closed, everything eerily silent. icon_razz.gif

I don't watch boxing but do watch UFC.

On that note, Dana White is bringing some UFC fighters this Wednesday for the troops here at Fort Bragg, NC. I'm going to pass at the meet and greet because trying to get in amongst 25,000-ish airborne/spec ops grunts in one teeny-tiny sports complex will be like sucking a gorilla through a straw --- not a good time.

I'm sure there will be a lot of over-the-top cock measuring contests going on though. That really becomes a turn-off and I don't want to be disappointed by that.

Well it was vindicating at least. It seems Asians are still fair game to racism these days when it comes to sports. Read any one of the comments on the past articles on the DelaHoya-Pacquiao fight and you'll come across comments you'll never read if Pacquiao was Black, or Latino, or White. It's enough to make your blood boil, and I'm not even a big boxing fan. The comments are aimed at our race. Asians just aren't that 'show-offy' it seems and would rather duck comments than be all 'macho' when it comes to challenges and all that. I guess politeness has deeper roots here than dick-waving. As one blogger put it, there are very few Asian American role models in the US (I don't even think there are Asian American politicians in the US, are there?), and because of that Asians being lambasted still isn't considered nonPC enough.

I admit he's not exactly pretty nor that well-versed in English, but forgodsakes, it's talent.

Same just like how you two guys just called him little monkey. icon_mad.gif I bristled at first, but I know it was well meant hehe icon_razz.gif Other guys on other forums are much more insulting, much more the ones on Youtube which are downright cruel. Lemme quote some charming comments:

-"Because nobody like dirty ass monkeys. Especially with faces like that."
-"scally boy hatton..... de la hoya wins by knock out!!!! u pacman nuthuggers can shut the fuck up!!! "
    - "De la Hoya no doubt. I wonder how much doggy protein manny has had. "

In all fairness though, there are good people out there on both sides. There are even some Mexicans who rooted for Pacquiao. icon_razz.gif But it's disheartening to see the racists. They don't badmouth black and latino fighters anymore, but they think it's still alright to badmouth asian ones since there aren't many Asian fighters in western rings. Boxing, Martial Arts (MMA and Muay Thai especially) are still very popular sports here in Asia, but it's rare for people from here to fight in the US which accounts for why we're still considered inferior when it comes to fighting sports. We don't have the image of being tough fighters there because of that.

Anyway, the point is moot. Pacquiao won against almost all predictions. And a definitely one sided victory at that.

    FYI Batista is also half-filipino.

I met Forrest in Vegas, he was with a bunch of other fighters, but me and my friends were like "GRIFFIN!!!!!!!!!!" he heard us and came over to say hello, and talked to us for like 15 minutes. dude is cool as hell. the weird thing was no one else even recognized him...

as far as boxing...I'm trying to stay a fan...trying hard...and I wanted to give de la hoya the botd, but geez...c'mon. I'm afraid it's over, dude.

oh, and don't get me started on Dana White....PRICK!

I know, I know...he's having fights for the troops, and that great...but he treats those fighters like SHIT! which is why it KILLS me that EliteXC is dead.

Where will I see Gina fight again?!?!!? Just when she was about to take on that freak cyborg, lol.

IMHO...Dana is doing exactly what he said he wouldn't do.
SELL OUT ! Just look at the drama with the 2 knuckle heads that
he capitalized on in the last 2 seasons of the UF show. ( Taylor and Browning)
That show has been reduced to frat boy antics and sensationalized drama.
Really pisses me off. It doesn't seem to be about finding good fighters anymore. More about good TV and ratings.

BTW....I was really into The Contender Muay Thai and it stopped
airing here mid show ! "GRRR !! Anyone else have this problem ? Who won ?!

No shit!! I was pissed off with this, as well! I was rooting for the hot Aussie, Soren. The 'Ultimate Fighter' guys could learn a thing or two about class, respect and humility from The Contender MT guys.

Great post, tho. I'm happy to see that there are other gays into fighting. I joined a MMA group and have been having my ass handed to me on a regular basis, but I love it. It's the best physical shape I've ever been in.

IMO, the last few UFC main events have been, well...uneventful. Do you guys watch WEC? It's pretty good. Also, check out 'Fight' magazine. It profiles fighters and give some tips on submissions, etc.

No the UFC main fights always suck. They are over hyped and over in tree seconds. It almost seams like there isn't even any technique involved either. I mean I train in MMA and BJJ and on the main fights its like thier technical abilities are thrown out the window and its more about a face bashing than a fight like a backroom brawl

I've been watching more WEC lately. Tried watching EliteXC too.
But I'm not that impressed with them.

I agree...the Lesner/Couture fight was the best example of this. Heavyweight bouts are traditionally short-lived, tho. Still, I would like to see technique come into play, as I learn from watching.

Well I think the main fights are like that because they are still trying to get out of that Wrestling shadow it was under when it first became popular. When the UFC first started they made it more show BS instead of technique because WWF was so popular then it was trying to catch thier viewers and the UFC still has some pieces left from that time

In all fairness, being wacked in the face can interfere with your game just a tad.

Half guard in jiu-jitsu is not that big a deal for the guy on the bottom. There is a lot you can do. Half guard in MMA is dangerous as you can be hit a lot.

Also in regular jiu-jitsu you have a gi - a great tool with grips. None of that in UFC.

Weight is not as much of a factor in jiu-jitsu as it would be in MMA. I wouldn't mind doing jiu-jitsu with onslaught - in fact it would be fun. But full contact - hell no.

The Lesnar fight was just ridiculous though. Not what MMA is supposed to be about, but apparently the better athlete won - for now. I think Couture should have won.

I agree totally with you both ! It would be great to see some better stand up as well ! Most fighters always let me down in that regard.
