GOP blocks vote on Democratic plan: Insurance companies rejoice

"The Republicans's plan, as Rep. Rob Andrews (D-NJ) called it on the floor is "The Insurance Company Bill of Rights." It allows insurance companies to sell substandard insurance plans not just to the people currently enrolled in them, but to anyone who wants one. It also allows insurance companies to cancel any policy they want to."

An underhanded anti-Obamacare stunt by the California GOP

Republicans launch fake Covered California (Obamacare) website to mislead public, paid for by taxpayer dollars.

The program will be fully operational by 2017, and will be funded through Medicare, Medicaid, federal money for the ACA given to Vermont, and a slight increase in taxes

And when the Federal money stops flowing, as it is scheduled to as per the ACA - it's only supposed to flow to the states for the first few years. Then what Metta8?

I don't know what they plan to do. If I could decide, I would add taxes and remove some subsidies to unnecessary or overused things that increase health care costs such as sugar, alcohol, corn, and the meat industry to help pay for it. Every other industrialized nation has national health care, we can to. I would also move some of the subsidies to farming growing healthier things. That should help to also reduce health care costs over the long term. It does not stop people from buying them or businesses selling them, it just helps to cover the health care costs created from people using them.

Good for you, glad to be keeping you busy. As you can no doubt see - but you ignore - GAMRican out of the blue posted a nasty, personal attack on me FIRST.

But don't let my returning the favor in kind disturb your narrative about me being a bully and someone who just willy-nilly posts nasty things about other RJ members. We certainly wouldn't want the facts to get in the way.

Alan (GAMRican) has done PLENTY of that on almost every post to earn a little of that back himself.

And how will all those taxes affect the poor and the middle class? Will they get special "government discount cards" that they will have to show at checkout to get a reduced price on those items? Your plan of tax, tax, tax will make Vermont a paradise for the rich (you remember the rich, those horrible people you and "Occupy" hate so much) and drive middle class and poor people out of the state.

Increasing the costs of things that increase health care costs will hopefully encourage people to eat healthier. I would not give them discount cards to buy stuff that is bad for them. People can still buy that stuff that increases health care costs if they want. But the government should not subsidize it.

This is a pretty elaborate dirty trick. Whoever approved of it should resign immediately. Like Ted Cruz's shutdown stunt, this only makes Obamacare more popular.

friends? how about people being responsible for what they say instead of chalking points for one side or the other.

Putting ad hominem attacks in small text ist just a passive aggressive away of making a ad hominem attach.

If someone doesn't want to be personally attacked, they should not start by doing it.

Its an informational site that existed BEFORE covered california was up.

What is the "trick " about this site? Does anyone actually read anything anymore?

Were you this upset over the billions spent during the previous administration? Or is this more faux outrage at the spending levels of the federal government because we have a Democratic President?

I just applied. I'm just waiting to get approved. I was holding off in hopes that my current plan would not be canceled for another year. My current plan would not let anyone in with a preexisting condition so the rates were cheaper for better coverage.

Yes, my new plan is more money for less coverage. My current plan included vision and dental for less money and the maximum out of pocket expenses was $4.5k/yr w/i the system. The new plan is more and has a max. pocket expenses of I think $6.35k/yr w/i the system. I don't have a current doctor so that does not really matter if I could get the same list of Doctors or not.

I don't know about the AIDS medication. If I was HIV+, I would get a higher end plan....probably a GOLD plan. I'm just signing up for a Bronze plan. That is what was recommended for me because I don't really use my insurance. I just have it in case of an emergency and I don't want to risk losing my assets because of a potential health bill.

Everyone has a doctor, no? What did you do when you would get sick with your old plan?

ANSWER - I don't have a doctor selected. I have been to an urgent care center twice and neither of those times had to do with being sick. Thankfully, I rarely get sick. I go for many years without even getting a cold. And I have never needed to go to the Doctor when I have had a cold. I did have that one flu a years ago but I just took care of myself. I prefer using natural stuff than medicine and only would use stuff like that as a last resort. I had the side affects of many of the medicines. I have trouble taking over-the-counter stuff (like benadryl) not alone the prescription stuff. I just had that drugged up feel.

So are any of the doctors that you saw in the past under your old plan available with your new plan?

ANSWER - I don't have any previous doctors. The last doctor I had....I think I was around 16. I have not been to an actual doctors office since I was a child.

Is your new plan more expensive than the old plan?

ANSWER - Yes. But that is not typical for most people.

Does your new plan offer less coverage than your old plan?

    ANSWER - Yes

And, most importantly, if you could, please check your new plan to see if HIV meds are included. I'm sure there are many on here who are very worried right now and you are in a great position to give us some real life information.

ANSWER - If I was HIV+, I would not get a Bronze plan.
