Can anyone recommend gay-friendly all inclusive resorts in the Caribbean or Mexico?

My past vacations have been very jam-packed with sight seeing and activities (England & France) and for the next, the b&c and I want to go an all-inclusive where we can just kick-back and relax on a beach, maybe do some snorkeling, play some volleyball, etc. Any suggestions?

Cuba is the most gay friendly country in the Caribean, also one of the cheapest. Americans are not allowed to travel there tho. Besides Cuba you also have Mexico which seems pretty tolerant towards gays. I would avoid Jamaica.

Caribbean tends to be not so gay friendly. Where I once lived, St. Croix now has one or two gay hotels but I've never visited them. I think the more popular one, or at least the one with the more active PR firm is over towards F-sted. I prefer the C-sted side of the Island. But it might be nice. Lemme google...

Frommers says it's just outside C-sted. I thought it was further out. So might be nice. here's that link

Five miles west of Christiansted is the Palms at Pelican Cove, where some 1,200 feet of white sand shaded by palm trees attracts a gay and mixed crowd. Because a reef lies just off the shore, snorkeling conditions are ideal.

The only thing with St Croix is the only island offshore is Buck Is., great snorkeling there, that is if it's not all dead by now. Where as if you did something on St. Thomas or the British Isles (the latter not gay friendly) you'd have more of a Caribbean experience as seeing other islands offshore makes the views really stunning.

I think it's Saba down there which is very gay friendly but there's nothing much there. One for lots of activity, gay friendly, though I don't know of an exclusive gay resort, would be St. Martin/Maarten or Barts.

If going for the Caribbean experience, I'd forget about the gay aspect and pic St Thomas/St. John & the British Isles, that area.

The other great area for snorkeling is on the opposite side of the Caribbean, Belize. Also very much not gay friendly.

We'd consider Cuba, but my husband could have issues leaving because he was born there.

I'll take a look and see what all-inclusives there are in St Croix, thanks!

You're welcome. I don't know if that one is all inclusive. But if it's only 5 miles from town, you'd have easy access to nightlife and daytime excursions (boat ride to more reef). As a US territory, they adhere to our Federal laws regarding antidiscrimination etc. They do not yet have marriage for same sex people.

If that resort is on the north side then the reef that website mentions might be the barrier reef running along there and eventually forming the harbor. That used to be my backyard.

But my favorite is when you have a cluster of islands nearby with good visibility between them and shallower waters giving those turquoise colors. It's just so fucking beautiful.

The problem down there is--and I don't mean to bash religion but it's true--is all the Christianity and then that mixed with some of the primitive beliefs simply does not equal equality for us gays.

I would love to see Cuba some day. I would especially love to see it before it develops. I recently went to a photo exhibit of architectural pictures from there. Very beautiful.

We stayed here on the Mayan Riviera and it seemed gay-friendly enough. Its a great location especially if you rent a car to do daytime excursions before hitting the beach later in the afternoon. The beach at this resort has no waves. Its a lagoon. But, again if you have a car, you car stop by area beaches (especially Akumel) for swimming and snorkelling. I snorkel independently and saw lots of sea turtles. http://www.tripadvisor.ca/Hotel_Review-g150812-d260444-Reviews-Occidental_Grand_Xcaret_Royal_Club-Playa_del_Carmen_Yucatan_Peninsula.html If I had to do it again I would stay in a boutique hotel in Playa Del Carmen (great town to hang out in in the evenings), or an all-inclusive closer to Tulum (as it is closer to a greater number self-directed excursions). I found that car rentals at the airport are just as cheap or cheaper than trying to find one in Playa del Carmen.
