This was the latest counterattack from the religious right that was printed in the NY Times over the weekend:

    We responded with this:

    A Letter from the Vatican....

.....OPPOSING a UN resolution to give gay people protection from prison or execution for just being gay is another example of why people in general may also be angry. Can you blame them? It's not just gays that are upset, but their Moms and Dads, brothers and sisters, Uncles, Aunts, cousins and their spouses and families as well. Voting yes on proposition 8 has kept their extended families from being whole in the aspect of marriages, and how they legally unite families.

Religions have no voting power etc etc etc, but they have an enormous weapon : the keys to every believer's after-life. THAT power is the power of fear and ultimately, control.

Thanks Mr Mills, for the use of your personal information for this submission, in that it protects us from further persecution!

    -Bill and Doug

Did anyone else research the Neckett Fund for Religious Libertiy before signing the petition? According to their website, the have no side on the gay marriage issuse. They wish only to resepect the civil liberties of religious folk--beig able toexpress their religious views without fearing threats. Apparently they do this by supoorting both pro and anti-gay religious organizations. If true, what is the problem? Yes their is a problem with radicals on both side--but the Beckett Fund appears not to be defending the radicals.
