hey everyone! this is my first topic on here! congrats to me!

anyways my major passion in live is electronic music --- it's my heart and soul! when I get out of school I plan on throwing some parties! but I mean I know its a stereotype.. but I thought that gay people were really into electronic music! I'm not the biggest house fanatic but I do enjoy some!

I really really love psytrance! it's my favorite kind of electronic music and that is what I live for.. and I've wondered if anyone else out there likes it, loves it or has even heard of it!

but i'd like to hear your thoughts anyway... has anyone been to any raves (allnighters) or parties as I like to call them or does anyone go on the regular? besides psytrance, I really like Drum n Bass, Trance, Ambient, downtempo, basically if it comes from a machine I like it. hehe an interesting thought.

    well let's hear it! :-)

    example of a track:
    '
off one of my favorite albums
    party - daytime:

party - nighttime -- I was in the crowd somewhere for this one was a blasticon_exclaim.gificon_twisted.gif!

and if you like what you hear.. check it out -- it could change you life like it did mine!

I live for topics like this!! I goes I can call myself a raver lol!

I think I been to atleast 300 parties. I first started partying in 1996. In new orleans. The whole rave scene has changed me for the better. I really wasn't into the gay club scene that much.I just felt so much love from the rave scene I didn't want to be anywhere also. There also were alot of hot guys there. I didn't really start going to gay clubs until I moved to San Francisco. For the most part most of my friends were straight.

I have thrown a few parties, and my best friend is a major party promoter here in california, now in Austin.

I love Deep house music, but I when I first started raving it was all about the trance! I also like happy hardcore and Jungle. The Jungle parties at the state palace were so awesome. There are so psytrance parties. I think alot of newbies in the scene gravate to that form of music. There is a big pystrance party near sacramento, I forgot the name of it thou. I'll let you know about it.

I went to a 60,000 person party for halloween in L.A called Monster Massive.
L.A has the biggest parties I believe in the country. If you think you seen everything, you haven't seen anything yet!

You should try to make it out to Cali someday if you do let me know! I'll show you where the parties are!

Luv it...but i can't say i see much gay interest in it.. It seems to be too non-madonna, too hard ,to geeky.

    oh, hell yeah!!!

i live for raves... the music, the beats, the lights, the people, the vibes, and yes, the drugs.

very much into trance, electro, psy-trance, house, etc.

as the above poster wrote, Monster Massive on Halloween in LA is literally the biggest party out there. usually i go, but this year went to another party cuz i had to catch SoulWax.. they have my heart.

its always great to meet fellow ravers. let me know if you ever head out this way!

Not much of a raver at all. LOL. But I do enjoy Trance and electronica (especially when influenced by tribal/folk music). Also cyberpunk and ambient. Especially since a lot of video game music are from those genres, and it's my line of work. That said, it depends on my mood (as with all types of music), and I'm not exclusively into electronica.

at a party in LA earlier this year, they had a surprise DJ that was psy, X-Noise, from Israel I think... that guy tore up the dance floor like ive seen few other DJs ever do before... when psy is good, that shit is GOOOOODD

well they stopped calling it raves out here on the west coast around the time that 13yo kids sucking on lollipops and dancing with glowsticks took over.... in S.F. its generally referred to as the undeground party scene....breakbeats and progressive or electro house are the domnant genres...personally I love breakz....gays do represent but not as much as you'd think....I have no idea why....except at burningman, which, in my opinion, is the gayest town on earth....

I havent gotten into any real psytrance, yet. As for drum & bass I really only am familiar with Pendulum.

I'm border-line obsessed with Breakbeat music! There is so much good stuff out there right now.

I got started in the electronic scene pretty early. I went to my first rave at 16 and since then I've seen Green Velvet, Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Crystal Method...the list goes on & on.

You should check out www.newmixes.com. They have tons of full mixes from really top DJs of all electronic genres. Its free & downloadable and most have track listings posted. Also, the BBC Radio1 website has great programming. I listen to Annie Nightingale's show all the time!

here are a few that get me going. Ive seen these guys live too icon_razz.gif

Not a raver, but I love all forms of electronic music. I think its only a matter of time before I get into the "harder" forms of it.

I, too, like Drum N Bass, downtempo, trance, Deadmau5, Chris Lake (Only One is amazing, sean85), and breakbeat. My true loves are house, trance, and techno.

I saw Pendulum play their first ever live set in the US at Coachella this year...it was off the chain.

But I LOVE the SF and UK breaks sound. Bassnectar, Tipper, FreQ Nasty, DJ Laura, Deekline and Wizard, Stanton Warriors, Random Rab, Kitty D, The Glitch Mob, El Papa Chango, Ana Sia, David Starfire, Beats Antique, Adam Freeland, Krafty Kuts, an-ten-nae, VIBESQUAD...the list goes on.

soccerstriker have you been to a Get Freaky party in SF? If not, I highly recommend you do.

i met my bf at a rave. been to together as one 4 times in a row this new years eve. ARMIN VAN BUUREN!! finally!!!

i'm into trance mainly. some house is okay, but i don't like the diva house stuff. my electronic music needs to be hard fast and uplifting. i'm mainly trance and hardstyle, but i do like infected mushroom and have seen then live a couple of times and they were awesome. here's a couple of my vids. no nocturnal 2008 uploaded yet.

Wow man thanks for the tip. Finally something to listen to. Know anybody local that would like to play at a small private Art Salon Venue that happens every 2 weeks or so in SF?

I love dancing, but I must admit I have always found raves boring. I need music to vary a lot in terms of melody, pace and style. House music and trance music are too monotonous for me. Not taking drugs does not help me either. I would much rather be at a dance where Elvis Presley mixes with Celine Dion who is followed up by The Killers or Nine Inch Nails.

I used to LOVE Happy Hardcore and rave music. Not so much anymore, but I still love electronic music icon_smile.gif

When I lived in Vegas, I went to two raves and neither one of them impressed me much. I think I was the only one there who WASN'T on some form of drug. Also, I'm not a fan of dancing...so I don't know why I was there in the first place haha icon_razz.gif

But yeah, HHC is really cool

Yeah thats my take on it to. I've been to some pretty bad raves and the next day I would hear amazing great reviews from guys that were just sitting in a corner or something...stoned.
