Okay, so I want to try jump roping...but whenever i try i can BARELY make it past 100 jumps without feeling like im ready to die.

is that pretty lame? how long should one jump rope for to be effective and is it okay if i mess up and start again (I have size 12 feet) so im sometimes tripping.

also, my knees, how bad is it on them?

    thanks all.

I've found that I too get tired, in the crotch area, after say 40 ups and downs. What do jump ropers do with their junk while they're bouncing??? (Yes, perhaps my underwear aren't the tightest, but...well, that's for a different post/site.)

How are you skipping? They are different ways that you can skip. If you are doing the straight up and down that can put some pressure on your feet and knees. When I skip (whenever I get the chance) I tend to skip and hop with one feet alternating with other (looks like you kicking out your foot and hoping at the same time.)

I was just looking this up in Google, these two articles might be of some help:

I've gotten back to the point where I can do a single hop with both feet 50 times before I trip over the rope, on carpet. The experts recommend a padded surface instead of concrete.
