Lip-Sync Malfunction Forces Katy Perry to Use Her Own Voice to Sing

So Katy doesn't write her songs, doesn't write the music, doesn't play instruments on the album, and doesn't sing at the concerts. Do we still have to call her a musician?

MuchMoreThanMuscle saidWhy couldn't this have happened to Britney? icon_lol.gif

    cause Britney is a Full-time lip-sync-er, not a Part time lip-sync-er. icon_lol.gificon_razz.gif

You want fast-food, you get fake food. It's just the same with music.

I love Katy Perry, but when she actually sang in this vid it sounded like bad karaoke. There, I said it. icon_sad.gif

Lol I thought everyone knew she can't really sing. Her songs are catchy but they only sound good thanks to enhancements. And of course her beauty keeps her in the spotlight.

I saw this the other day and it was so cringe worthy.

She's really inconsistent as a vocalist. Some of her acoustic stuff is brilliant but a lot of her big singles require her to sing outside of her natural range and she just sounds strained.

Nearly all pop artists use backing tracks but in Katy's case the sad fact is she just can't recreate her studio vocals in a live setting.

She sounds fine to me after they started back up. I like the husky tone she has.

remember when Ashley Simpson was caught lip-synching on SNL? She was crucified. Same should happen to Katy. She sucks as a voalist and doesn't desrve to even be called a musician.

I think being asked to start over was pretty petrifying.

I felt a lot of gayboys hearts shatter when they saw this haha.

Here's a new idea for a reality game show competition...

Let's take all these pop divas, especially the ones who sit as judges on other shows and assign them a song to sing live and let America vote them off each week.

In all fairness, it is a European tv show where lip syncing is the norm and since she was not expected to sing live from the get go, didn't get a chance to properly warm up her voice.

Gotta give her props for not walking off the stage in a diva fit.

I wonder if she was expecting that, I would guess yes? I mean if she wasn't would she have had a backup track on hand without pre-recorded vocals. She wasn't terrible, reminded me of that vid of Mariah Carey singing "All I want for Christmas" which was really terrible. Difference is Mariah can sing and that was an off day. Katy on the other hand might need a bit more practice to get into live performances.

I think she did ok though. I still don't like her music though and I would say she "talk" sings in that she doesn't really hit high notes or carry a melody with her voice alone. Strip away the background music and she'd suffer greatly.

Kinda makes you wonder what of the current crop of "divas" will be playing on the oldies channels 20, 30, 40 years from now icon_question.gif
