Try switching to lower weight and higher reps. And doing more cardio work.

If you think you are an ectomorph and that your metabolism is fast... read this:

My height is 6'2". At 24 when I started working out my weight was 140lbs. Now at 30 close to 200lbs, 8% body fat (photos will be updated next month) Eating 5000Kcal just to maintain these stats. When I go into a CUTTING diet I eat 4000Kcal/day. If no metabolism slow down occurs until I reach 230lbs my diet will probably be in the 6000Kcal range.

PS: after 4500Kcal, you don't eat, you're a slave to food!

most people are a mix of two of them. i have ectomorph down pat but i also have a pretty decent endurance level when it comes to certain work outs. its a good way of explaining metabolic rates but its not the gold standard. your body is unique. find out what works for you and stick with it. dont worry so much about labels.

I think it's overly simplistic and most people change between the types over their lifespan. Lot of chubby kids with a metabolism that picks us by early adulthood and lots of skinny people whose metabolism tanks later on.

I found this quiz interesting but ultimately don't put too much stock in they somatotypes idea and much more than a cop-out for some.

thebearerofbadnews saidnaw... it's bullshit. a lot of the shit goes based on genetics. some people have it. some people don't. it's all about working with the genes. my genetics makes me have really small bone mass among other things which isn't likely to change considering that i'm an adult. i also am a hardgainer too where in order for me to tack on some weight, i have to overeat and worst off, i lose weight quick. i'm not a heavy eater either so i can become really snoop dogg skinny IF i decide to stop working out. bad enough, i don't have much muscle either.

It's not bull shit it is a categorizing system for body types, just like their are names for personality types

This isn't some new theory, it's the way of describing basic types of bodies we've had for many years. Of course there is endless variation, but you can't change from Endomorph to Ectomorph.

Besides that first statement badnews got it right - he basically said the same thing - no matter how hard you work out or what you eat you are not going to change your fundamental skeletal structure or the way your body puts on muscle. You can make the best of what you are, its all good.

You are pretty solidly a mesomorph. It is not so much about metabolism as body structure, metabolism can be affected by lots of things. Doing lots of compound lifting with heavier weight can help with the fat burning. This is a good article.

I learned about Cesare Lombroso in one my classes, who said body types are associated with criminality and Mesomorphs were most likely to engage in deviant behaviour. After he conducted a study on the prison population, but this was long ago, I doubt theres an actual correlation.

Mesomorphs are also called "natural athletes", got to take the good with the bad I guess.

Personality types are full of shit, just like somatotypes. They're outdated science. People fall along a continuum, and they are far too complicated to be fitted into narrow categories.

It was an analogy to another method of categorization. Some people never heard of body type categories but heard of personality type categorization, I was simply explaining that. As far as categories, you'll always find those that fall in the middle of two
