    Stamps? Art? Toys? Vintage clothes?

What do you have a collection of that you are always adding too?

One of mine is collecting fountain pens. I like to write with them.

books. at least that's the joke everyone comes up with when they walk into my house for the first time. i catalogued them at one point: in 2005 i had almost 6,000 in my library.

    i need an intervention.

Good cigars, wines and beers. I like to enjoy my collections from a gastronomical standpoint.

(Since digestion begins with the mouth, I've included cigars.)

Dancerjack stole my answer ( books)... but that beats court summons, right?
Also ( and I know I'll get roasted on this) New Orleans Saints' memorabilia. My room looks like a shrine to them, all the way down to my Saints' slippers and chewing gum.... and the program from the first game ever ( and yes, I have the ticket stub and program to prove that I was there, when student tickets went for $1).

I was quite the pack rat when I was younger. Went through the whole lot - stamps, coins, dried insects, toys, trading cards, rocks, etc.

Nowadays I don't collect anymore. The only surviving collection I have is my fossil collection. I have a ton of sci-fi/fantasy books too, but I don't consider it a collection. icon_razz.gif

    What??

    Butterflies, beetles, mantids, etc.

Insect collecting duh! icon_razz.gif You get a net. Catch a butterfly. Put it inside a jar with some sort of DEADLY fumes in it and KILL the poor creature. Take it out, put it on a mount so it will be ina desired viewing position, then lay it out in the sun to dry, careful not to let ants find it. I have horribly negative karma already from all the insects I've placed in the 'gas chamber'. icon_cry.gif

Oh and I also collect weird small stuff. Strange rocks, feathers, fern leaves, etc... then stitch and glue them together to make voodoo mobiles. icon_twisted.gif I have *counts* 8 hanging in my room ceiling right now. First time I made one, mom asked if I was turning satanic. icon_lol.gif

haha, voodoo mobiles - sounds diabolical!

i did the whole dried insect thing when i was a kid too; still have two large-ish (50cm x 50cm) butterfly collections at home, and even after fifteen years they're in surprisingly good condition... learned pretty early on that methylated spirits is anathema to insects - no wonder it's worked so well as a preservative.

nowadays, if i'm collecting anything, it's shells i find washed up on the beach. usually end up giving them away to my younger cousins though; collecting gets boring after a while.
