OMG i used to love that show... was so silly and funny and got into such an awesome groove... great supporting cast... or ensemble... and then the GAY hit... was such a surreal time
the 4th season they had at least one joke in each episode poking fun at the gay... she came out at the end of that season... very funny... one i remember at the beginning of an episode had her singing "im so pretty" as she is a mess in the morning in her jammies brushing her teeth in the bathroom... then when she gets to the point in the song "I feel pretty, and witty and gay" she instead realizes the water is off and sings "I feel pretty, and witty and hey where's the water"...
was all fun... then the coming out puppy episode was like a national phenomenon... so funny to look back today that it was such a big deal especially since the show itself was a minor success not like friends or Seinfeld
and i remember she said she promised the show would not change because of the GAY but oh it did... it did a lot... i think she was overwhelmed or something
that whole 5th season was her trying to come to terms with it... dating gay... getting into a monogamous relationship with a woman who had a child... the supporting cast got shoved to the side for these new stories and characters... location changed as she lost her job and new home... was crazy... the show completely changed was like if Seinfeld had decided to have his character get married move to the suburbs and george elaine and kramer visited now and then...
ugh
