I see guys with like 30,000 posts. Were any worthwhile real life friendships to be gained from it? I'm scared of ending up like them one day icon_sad.gif

Forumers here aren't representative of the majority. The old timers here who attack everyone outside their buddy circle, rally to get each other unbanned, and police all the race threads are but a small minority of older gays. The ones I know in real life have lives.

Guess I'm kinda down right now. It just that most of my gay friends, whether 20 or 40, seem to be around the same maturity level, and not having a life outside the village. I seem destined to join them icon_sad.gif

And yet, the most consistent attacking I see around here is done-----by you. Constantly.

Cumulatively I've met like 50-75 RJers. With school now I don't have much RJ time during the semester.

Especially when you figure that most of the time people here are quoting other posts and simply adding an "LOL" or an emoticon or some similar one-worded response.

I forgot when I joined RJ, but it must be a couple of years ago. I've made close to a thousand posts in that time. Some months I'm more active than others; it really depends on what is going on in my life.

The point is that no one is forcing anyone here to participate. If you think that you have something better to do, then do that instead. RJ is a good outlet (at least for me) to the (online) gay community.

I have a busy life. Don't think I've overdone it here. The secret is to stay away from Facebook and Tumblr. They'll rob ya. These forums are actually pretty fun, and I don't have to run into too many homophobes here.

Sad shit isnt it. To use this site as a bullshit pass time is okay. To live on it so much that you accumulate thousands and thousands of posts or to have so little going on in life that you accumulate them by responding to practically EVERY thread, like a certain burrito in this one, is pretty damn pathetic.

A few of them are always on race threads trying to pretend that all races are equally preferred in gay culture, because the old men have the most to lose if minorities are more self-aware of where their own white preferences come from, and, god forbid, stop enforcing young minority/old white guy stereotypes.

This is a community. & a few heinous skanks notwithstanding, a generally supportive one. We all have something big in common. We all like dick and people don`t hate us here for being who we are. What we are doing here is of value. Anthropologists will study RJ in future centuries & conclude that it was a significant milestone in the evolution of 21st Century culture. I am always happy to log on here and absorb what people are feeling and saying - & getting mail makes my day. This is something worth making time for.

Patrolling indeed. I have never commented on young/old or race threads because I don't give a shit.
    So much for your 'thesis'.

I'm sure there are far worse things we gays could be doing with our time than posting on probably the very best gay website on the internet. icon_wink.gif
